Yeah, that movie was pretty shit. Also, the J.K. Simmons guy is supposed to be some jazz-snob but he doesn't even ridicule the kid for idolizing Buddy Rich.

I don't know, calling people snobs reeks of the bourgeoisie's inferiority complex, imo.

Out of those I've only seen Nightcrawler, Gone Girl and Mad Max: Fury Road. I thought they were all a realistic mirror of the current zeitgeist and while displaying a certain joie de vivre also worked as an intricate exploration of the human spirit as a whole.
