I just think that if you size up the person who's hit you and they're smaller or frailer than you then you should just refrain from attacking. I mean the way I see it if there's someone going around bullying people because they're hench as **** and you stand up to them then you're a hero, otherwise you're just as much a slave to irrational and pointless violence as the person who attacked you

I am the opposite. I think if you size up a person and they are bigger and stronger than you that you should refrain from attacking. I think if you do decide to attack you do not have any right to not expect retaliation based on size or gender.
I also think the person who attacks someone despite being weaker and smaller than them is the one who is more of a slave to violence. Only imbeciles poke the bear.
The only exception I would make is for children. If a 10 yr. old hits me I won't punch her back. At least I probably won't.

I never said I would run away from someone bigger. What I said was I think it's up to the person to protect themselves. If you're going to start some shit YOU size someone up, don't rely on the person you're attacking to do it. It's up to you, Scribble, to protect yourself. It is not up to me to protect you FROM yourself because you're a grown ass man. So if you were weaker and smaller than me and decided to attack me well..the consequences of that would be on you, not I.
If a woman hit me it's not like I'd pound the hell out of her. She hits me once, she gets hit once. It's that simple. Would I hit a guy on crutches? Probably not, I guess in addition to kids I could make exceptions for handicapped people. But grown ass healthy adults? Nope. Keep your hands to yourself.
