The assistant was probably using 'gender' to mean 'sex' in that case anyway (which happens a lot), but really, who cares? There's literally no controversy there.
Interesting, what do you think about the recent controversy with Bill Nye? In his new show he talks about gender fluidity, that there are more than 2 genders, etc.Turns out on his other show in the 90s there was an episode where they talk about how gender is determined by chromosomes. Bill Nye doesn't specifically say this, some female assistant says it.
The controversy comes over the fact that Netflix didn't only have Nye's new show on, but it also had select episodes of his own show from the 90s...and one of them was that episode I just described. Anyways, once this was pointed out the episode was removed from Netflix. It was then re-uploaded, but the segment in question had been edited out.
IMO this sounds like preferring feelings over facts.
