Russian Zod was only impressive when he could trick Superman. His best feat was probably breaking Superman's jaw by sucker punching him.
When Superman decided that he had enough he beat the shit out Russian Zod. This was when the sun was "Red".
For those who don't know, Russian Zod gets powered from Red Solar energy while Superman is weakened by it. Superman had a minor boost of solar energy when the Sun itself was emitting red Solar energy<meaning he was weaker than his regular self> did this to Russian Zod:
-To make matter worse both of team 1 can produce Solar energy to depower Zod Instantly<at least Firelord can>. Frankie isn't helping much here 😉

Actually, you are wrong there. While the sun was red and Superman was only going by the solar-boost he got from this guy ..
.. he got his ass kicked, as this scans show:
After this, in this scan it is made quite clear that 50% of what made the sun red is shut down, and when Metallo says that he can get the sun to full-on yellow in seconds, Lex tells him to do it only on his comand because he wants Superman and Zod to fight as equals, which you conveniently left out. 🙂
And this is where they square off as equals, with Superman extremly motivated. Superman beats him, afterwards the synchronization Lex was talking about taking place and Zod killing himself by hitting himself on Superman's body while the sun was fully Yellow:
So it seems the showing you used to make it seem as if Zod is far less formidable that he actually is doesn't really help you at all. 🙂

Good thing that he has the costume on, which renders solar attacks null. Or, since the last time we've seen him he had no solar costume and he is depowered under a yellow sun, it means this whole battle will be taking place under a red one in order for the combatants to fight at full capacity. 🙂
Now, since I got started, I'm going to show more stuff about how powerfull this version of Zod is.
Here is another fight he had with Superman, in which he seems to hold the advantage:
And here it's stated that Zod destroyed 2 Imperiex probes to Superman's shock:
Needless to say for those who've read OWAW, the probes are formidable in combat.

Firelord's ability to produce solar energy will to be much for what little Red Sunlight the sun produces that actually reaches earth. This is evident when simple solar attack was able to sustain Superman under a Red Sun.

To further expand on the scans Phil posted where Russian Zod had an advantage few important things people need to know.
1.)This is when superman would not use his full power. While Zod did. Him not willing to kill out of fear of what he did to Parallel universe Zod affected him mental that's why you see Zod having an upper hand - also Zod had been studying Superman so he had knowledge of what superman did in battle.
Here is what would have happen if Superman was willing to kill Russian Zod.
Once this "fear" is gone and Superman is no longer affected by this. Superman wins as the scans I posted.
^ Shows two things Superman > Russian Zod who doesn't even land a punch when they are in equal footing <solar energy wise>. The second thing is how quickly he can depowerded with yellow solar energy.
