Rood and his horrible sense of direction lead him back to Chun and the rest yet again. This time she seemed to be interrogating another Kajan who was causing her to draw blood."Or you could remove your claws from her and I'll tell her to let you go and then we could all talk about this I suppose.''
Another one, Aliir thought to himself, and this one looks like he'd be a formidable Kajan. He sighed exhaling a long drawn out breath before squeezing on some muscle fibers and gently pinching some nerves belonging to the female Kajan. It made no sense to keep the charade on any longer; the voice of reason, to him, had arrived.
He flipped his head to his sides unleashing a continues popping of his spine for all to hear. He sat down in with his legs crossed, and intertwined his fingers around his staff. In some what spastic yet chaotically flowing motion, he began to draw a general map of the surrounding area in a relative 4 square mile radius. When a decent map had been produced, he took his palm and smeared away a top corner and traced with a single claw file a narrow and winding road that lead to an 'x'.
"Guess where I came from?" Aliir inquired quiet sarcastically as he continued to add details to his shoddy looking map. "It's been a week, I'm sure much advancement has been made between that time. No doubt some of the surrounding villages have been consumed as well." At this point he stopped speaking and took a moment to pause as a painful memory of his shrine being burned down and the horror of the monks stationed there dying while he was ordered to warn the other temples derailed all train of thought. Although he showed nothing for it, and looked as though he was waiting for a response.
"A name wouldn't matter at this point," he continued before giving anyone a chance to answer, "I could call myself rock, and it wouldn't stop their advancement. It would be easy to blame this as a result of poor control from any of the other races." He perked his ears to listen to any disgruntled sounds made by the offended, but as before, denied anyone a moment to protest the statement and pressed on, "their fighting is different though. We use to be open to many other warriors who made long journeys to visit our shrine and master. Some even made the journey to train under our guidance. For a while it was entertaining as equally enlightening."
"But over the years the number of travelers dwindled and the trumpets of war began to sound. For the sake of fairness, and from involving our confederacy of tribes from getting involved in the war, we closed our borders off to anyone not associated to the order or a Kajun. There was stillness for a time being, before outsiders began to attack my village."
"At first we thought it to be patriots of outside races who thought us a training grounds for Kajun warriors. But then their tactics became more and more drastic and complex. Before we knew it, an entire army stood at our front gates. We thought one of the nations became too skeptical and had come to blockade us from the rest of the world. We sent an emissary to meet with the leader of this army"
Aliir grew a little unsettled and shifted his weight a bit. "We figured a way to atone for our closed borders policy would be to send a monk ambassador." Closing our doors was a political mistake, opening our minds to one another will be our rectification, these were the frail words of the master of the shrine where Aliir and 18 other monk masters were. Some were very relaxed and inclined against walls and pillows, while others sat meditating and focusing on the problem at hand. Aliir sat to the left side of the master who was working on a calligraphy drawing. Aliir was puffing circles out of his pipe.
"We will send two emissaries out with the rising sun. With patience we will avoid unnecessary blood shed." The words seemed to fade away into the darkness of his mind like the smoke rings dissipating into the air. Aliir brought back his mind to the present and gazed down transfixed at the wiped away portion of the map.
"By the rate they took the city and moved by night fall, I'd give them three days until they reach us." Aliir stood spinning on his heels wiping the map away beneath his feet, "you wouldn't happen to have any food to spare would you?"
