ugh.. this game still has everything thats wrong with halo...-nade spamming garbage..
-easy retard sniping, that rewards your friendly neighborhood mongoloid
-rocket launcher, now with an even BIGGER blast radius.. because that was totally necessary
-having to spend half a clip in someone, then meleeing them.. and its STILL not enough?.. the hell do I have to do for someone to drop dead?.. literally I find myself meleeing someone around 3 times, and this is just ridiculous considering how precious each second of battle is
-----------------------------------Reach related :
-k so.. every other spec gets to do their shit in mid air.. except for armor lock.. I guess its just TOO op to hope for some kind of immunity, that I'm spec'ed for, while I'm either falling off a ledge or what have you, even though I'm not doing any damage to anyone, and I have to drop objective based tools to use.. retarded
-the BR scope, and the needle rifle... they really dont do enough damage.. I can kill people faster with a needler that travels twice as slow more reliably..and the assault rifle is back to being garbage again
-retarded cutscene kills.. I guess noone learned their lesson from AvP, and this usually turns into a 10 people long assassination gangbang.. what is the point of even doing this, when you can 1 shot them in less than a second and keep moving? extreeeeemely pointless feature
-the sword house map just sucks to me.. it doesnt flow.. and you usually get spawned way too far from whatever it is you have to do, despite being offered a measly 3 seconds to decide who you wish to spawn near
-wtf @ the sound.. I cant even hear my own footsteps.. but I can hear some dude gettin sniped halfway across the map.. really annoying in a genre where audio cues can save you
-------------good stuff :
-love the spec choices.. jet pack is probably the laziest offering to me, and could have had more thought put into it.. there probably could have also been shield and HP differences between each spec, IMO
-the speed of the action seems to have gotten faster.. it doesnt feel like I'm running for 10 years to get somewhere, and I dont feel like I'm floating 15 feet into the air by pressin jump
-the new weapon offerings (as well as the refurbished familiars) are all very fun to play with.. despite some of them needing more tuning
-being able to save someone from getting assassinated.. should you kill someone before the knife goes in, your ally gets to walk away (yet another reason assassination is pointless).. awesome.. wanted this in gears, but was sadly denied
-lovin the graphical overhaul.. the armor system seems ok.. (even though randomly some of the uglier looking gear is more expensive o_O)
Just my 2 cents.. its not my wish to offend, so apologies in advance.. 🙂
Keep in mind this is still just a beta. So the weapons balance is bound to change for the retail version.

its just the whole structure of things.. in the end its still who gets the drop on you, burns your shield and one shots you with a secondary or melee.. or nade spamming.. I really wanted this to be a more mature offering.. I really did.. but instead, all of the stuff that turned people off of halo is now so integral to play, that all of the new stuff they added is just shrugged off and feels tacked-on, rather than them coming together and changing halo for the better

Damage values can be fixed as well. So don't count out those lesser weapons yet.
I understand your point. but I don't think the game is any bad. Halo was, is and will most likely always be about grenades and melee. It has been the core of the gameplay since the very first game and I don't think they will ever change that. It was what made the game unique at the time before everyone else implemented those features.
Jetpacks, armorlock and the sprint all help to handle the grenade spam you dread so much.

Its actually rather easy to destroy any of those abilities with grenade spam
Jetpack - sticky.. or theyre gonna have to land at some point anyway.. litter the ground n watch em light up
ArmorLock - just wait for the exit animation > sticky
Sprint - this ability I found to be slower than I thought.. it doesnt always move you fast enough to leave a blast radius
and yeah I think the covy grenade launcher is prety damn awesome
and I'll just slip this here

Of course the armor abilities are not going to be overpowered and completely ruin nades.
However I have jetpacked away from a grenade's blast. I have avoided numerous blasts by sprinting to safety. I have avoided getting killed from the death(like when someone drops a nade right before you kill them) by armorlock and I have even used it from a distance to get the other team to waste their nades.
Have you played powerhouse with only jetpacks. Its hillarious!

I've done some of those death escape moments as well.. but its only a matter of time before people can literally count down the time before armor lock wears off and such
one of THE coolest things I've done is use armor lock like an SF3 parry and when someone went to melee me I tapped LB, flash armored n ignored the hit, exited and headshotted
as far as grenades are concerned, youre not using armor lock right...
you dont go into armor lock as soon as you see someone or someone attacks you, and you dont go into armor lock when someone throws a grenade at you. assuming you actually see the grenade get thrown at you you go into armor lock just as the grenade gets ready to blow (about a second before as it takes around half a second to turn invincible) and as soon as it explodes you leave armor lock. even if he throws a second grenade you can escape damage that way, its just about timing.
and also once you actually go into the lock, if youre in armor lock mode for longer than a second then youre not using it right...

so you mean that time someone tried to persistently assasinate me, and I remained in AL, exploded and broke his shield which caused a stun, and then I turned and meleed him for the win... I was doing it wrong? 😛
I've never AL'ed as soon as I see them or they attack me
also a full AL duration allows your shield some regen time
not to mention AL has an exit animation, regardless of how fast you exit, which CAN be punished via sticky on reaction
I think if the jam had a larger radius (and it shouldnt jam the radar for yourself and YOUR team for using it, thats really dumb), it would be harder to pinpoint the location of the invis user..
or maybe just have the jammed areas affected at random.. have the blips swirl in patches around your current location to keep people trippin out or something
