£7 for both games on Steam right now? Hot damn, that's a good package. Been meaning to get my brother playing...

Valve sell outs!!

They're like on of the only companies in existence these days that give out new content without a price.

granted, they release to the PC community for free

Talk about TF2, how many free updates were released by Valve. How many new maps, new modes, new weapons, new gameplay devices and people start complaining about how they allow people to buy content.....which I might add, you can still get for free???

Updates are free. Otherwise no-one would update a game on xbox live...all companies are obligated to release free updates for their games. You're thinking about add-ons.

And the content that people were generally getting for free were because they had already bought another Valve game that unlocked the "exclusive" content to them. People would have to buy the Left 4 Dead game for instance to get the TF2 Bill's Beret. And people would have to buy L4D2 to get TF2 Ellis's Cap.

Unfortunately, the DLC for the 360 is a MS deal, but I bet you that Valve would of released it for free if they could. I'm sorry, but the idea that Valve are going down the sell out is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard.

Though Valve show dedication their fans you have to look at the cons as well. You can't just put your fingers in your ears and hum when someone burns them.

Just look at the evidence that Valve are unreliable in certain circumstances. Lack of Half-Life 2: Episode 3 despite them saying they would release the Episodes equally apart, instead of releasing Half-Life 3 7years later. L4D "DLC" turning into a sequel. Intentions to release L4D on PS3 despite them saying it would be PC/Xbox exclusive (granted this isn't much of a disappointment but rather a "go-back" on their word).

That sounds great. I want to play Black mesa when it finally comes out, and apparently you need to buy a source game on steam for it to work. There's probably a work around, but if it's just 7 for both games I might just do that.

Better hurry- weekend deal I think.

You haven't played a lot of TF2 have you?

Those updates? Is content. It's free. It has maps, new modes, new weapons for each class and that's been over 3 years of new content that they didn't have to do, or release for free. The amount of new maps that they have released doubles (triples) the amount of maps available for MW2 paid DLC.

If you bought TF2, you get a ton of free content.

Lack of Episode 3? How does that make them unreliable. How does a developer become unreliable saying they are creating a game but haven't released it yet? I don't understand that mentality. It's a fact of life that developers take time to develop games and as a company, change what they want to do.

Keep in mind, too, that development cycles are almost always lengthened, as near the end of it you're almost always playing catch-up to integrate new technology expectations. Good games take a long time to develop, it's just a matter of fact.

Honestly, I've not had much luck since they had that massive update that changed the game mechanic.

Yes, the updates on PC were free and they were content. On Xbox as far as I know - though I've not played it for a while - they've not included that update for download.

I did...and I possibly did. But like I said, I've not really got on with it since that massive update.

It shows they don't stick to their word. Look, don't get me wrong. Valve have produced awesome games that I love. But they're are unreliable when it comes to them sticking to their word.

- "We're making DLC for L4D...or wait, now it's a new game."
- "Here's TF2...and now we'll give it a massive update that completely changes the way you play the game."
- "We're gonna release the sequel to Half-Life 2 episodically in order to get the content out to users quicker...oh wait, we've released the first two but now there's no new news about the 3rd installment and there hasn't been for the last 3 years."

What massive update? There's a bunch of them, which class update was it specifically?

I give you that Valve is unreliable when it comes to release dates but they are definitely not sell outs. They've release a ton of content for free to the consumers over the years.

And seriously, L4D has three major DLC. I think they've gone by their word that they have supported L4D.

How is it that you guys still keep your copy of Left 4 Dead 2? I tried a perfectly clean, unscratched one and all I encountered online was horrendous lag nonstop. I know that my connection isn't crappy because I've rarely encountered any lag in the other games I've played. Compared to the Halo Reach Beta Server incident, Left 4 Dead 2's servers are demonic.

Having the same problem with L4D2 on PC as well. I get roughly 60 ping in most online games(that have decent servers), while with L4D2 I rarely get pings lower than 200. I actually gave up playing L4D2 online altogether.

The one that completely changed how the game worked. It was a huge update that gave the game the whole leveling up thing. Before it was just like Half-Life 2: Deathmatch where you run around shooting people for fun. But now it's a whole leveling up thing.

Okay then, I guess I used the wrong word...

Glad to see I'm not the only one suffering from this. Why hasn't Valve solved this problem yet? I would've gotten The Sacrifice on L4D2 were it not for that crap.

There isn't any leveling in TF2.

I like how the Sacrifizzle achievement is apparently 100% glitched in the first Left 4 Dead, even after a one-day delay for the DLC. Guess that's one game I'll never have complete again 😬, unless Valve releases a patch that fixes the bugs, which I don't see happening since they never did it for Crash Course. Although I got the Sacrifice on both games, I can conclude it's really only worth getting on the 2nd one because of No Mercy being added, and all the achievements actually working. Scavenge mode on NM is awesome and nostalgic. Haven't done L4D2 versus on it yet.

New DLC coming this July:

Moderately surprised. Us PC gamers have had much of that content for months now.

That was only a beta anyway

i'll be checking out this new DLC.

This became backwards compatible today. Thankfully, I own it digitally along with all the DLC including all the L4D1 maps, so its like getting both L4Ds backwards compatible. Love these games. They never get old.
