Metroid: Other M

Started by S_D_J22 pages

As much as I want to play this game, I simply can't.... I haven't made it past God of War 2, let alone GOW3 (I'm currently playing PS3 only 😐 ) .... And never finished Prime 3, so I refused to play it until I'm done with MP3 😬

Prime 3 and the Prime series in general has little to do with Other M, anyway. Though you should finish Prime 3 just on its own merit.

Prime 3 is my favorite Metroid game followed by Super Metroid and the original Prime game.

Other M blew Corruption out of the water for me. Don't know about the first Prime though.

All right, so playing this game on hard mode still. Ridley is definitely the top of the hill boss in this difficulty from what I've seen so far. He has a variety of OHKO techniques and everything, it's crazy. Hoping the rest of this run will go a bit smoother once I get past him... eventually.

Too me,

Spoiler:
Phantoon
was the hardest. I'm still stuck there.

Yahtzee's review is none too favourable.

Yahtzee is less a reviewer and more of an attempt at being a comedian.

He also doesn't like anything that isn't Portal.

Or Silent Hill 1 or 2.

I always find it funny that people always resort to bashing Yahtzee the exact moment he makes an unfavorable review for a game they like.

Especially since I recall you defending him a while back.

Neat.

I haven't played this game yet.

And I've always said that he's no good as a reviewer. Which is the truth. People watch his videos for comedy, not to get an actual opinion.

I seem to recall you saying before that you hate him, so. Yeah.

Neither have I, lack of funds sadly.

Funny, even if I like a game he dislikes, I can usually see where he is coming from. His videos just happen to be funny.

To be perfectly honest I was doing some mild trolling then.

Calling him an entertainer first, reviewer second isn't so much an insult or an expression of contempt as it is a viewpoint based on the gamers that know not to go to him for a review to help make a decision to actually get the game. Otherwise, we'd've only been playing Psychonauts all last generation. His entire viewpoint and review style are based around what's entertaining. I'm not saying he's a "Professional Troll" as that one butthurt Brawl fan once wrote (although the entire mailbag showdown video suggests to me that Yahtzee's capable of butthurtedness), but it's not even wrong of mind to say he's an entertainer first, [FOR A FUCHHING] journalist second, gamer/reviewer third. I think he'd know as well as anyone with a modicum of nonchalnce that he's not a worthwhile reviewer so much as he is the glorifed comedic representation of the vocal minority. I mean, if he were ever beaten to a bloody pulp by a whole mob of butthurt Brawl fanboys, I won't say he didn't have it coming, but it wouldn't be his fault either, just the fanboys' faults for taking his reviews at face value, therefore proving his notion of picking out which gamers can be regarded as "miserable fanboy twats". Even if so, you wouldn't see me calling him a "Redundant, ego-inflated git" out of any similar spite.

And the only time I remember Peach there defending Yahtzee was when you yourself said how much you hated him 😐

I'm just waiting until I've played some more Metroid games.

Honestly, I don't really find him all that funny anymore. The swearing repeatedly approach gets tiresome very fast.

And even then all I said was "I bet he didn't like a game you liked" or along those lines 😛

Kay.

Nah.

Actually you said "Let me guess, he reviewed a game you liked?"

To be honest when I typed that I had not even seen a Yahtzee review at that point, it being a lazy attempt at trolling.

Why does anyone take a reviewer seriously? Anyone who looks up a review and then decides to wholly base whether or not they will get that game only on that review is a loser. estahuh

To say he is "no good as a reviewer" is flawed because a reviewer is only giving their personal opinion. Most reviewers think Mass Effect was gold, actually I cannot think of a reviewer who did not like the game. I know for a fact that you hated it. As wrong as such a statement seems, your opinion is not actually wrong, it is your opinion, it is just an evil opinion and you should feel very bad that you feel that way. 😛

Nonetheless, I have successfully dragged this thread off topic, we should probably stop. 131

So I watched the screwattack review and while I can see where he's coming from I don't quite agree with the guy. He makes a big thing about how fantastic the game was for taking risks, to which I'd agree with him, but if the risks don't turn up sunny side that still makes them bad things in total.

He also says that its good that she's becoming a 3 dimensional character, to which I completely disagree. Being a 3D character does not automatically make you a good character. Jar Jar had the most damn personality out of the entire ****ing prequels, yet he's utterly despised. Now I don't know anything about the games at all, but from what I've heard Samus has been characterised as shell shocked, vulnerable, needy and submissive. If thats true then I'd say thats a pretty ****ing stupid way to portray an action game hero. Man or woman. Let alone one so popular and well-liked. If Link, Master Chief, Gordon Freeman or Mario, all (mostly) silent, relatively personalitiless characters suddenly acted like that you bet your ass people would be pissed. Thats my outsiders perspective anyway.

The problem is that people are saying she's being portrayed that way when it's not true. She's not needy, or submissive. Unless you view somebody who thinks like a soldier as someone who's submissive. She isn't vulnerable aside from one scene in the game. She is "shell shocked" in that she has some problems left over from when she watched her parents and every person she ever knew get slaughtered... that's a tad understandable though.
