Has it managed to stay relevant (maintain a reasonably sizable, active, and friendly community)?

Yeah it still has a good number of players on each sever. It coming out on ps3 and 4 likely help with that. New update added a lot so a lot of guilds are looking for new people. And a new class is coming soon before an expansion so currently growing. I haven't run into many assholes yet but I'm sure they are around like most mmos.

I may check it out at some point then.

I'd get this game if it didn't have a monthly subscription.

I say atleast do the initial purchase. If you like it enough can just buy the time cards for three months, when you feel like you want to hop back in.

Time cards? Are they lie Prepaid cards? I mean does it only count the actual time you log in it? Instead of monthly subs? What do I get with the initial purchase? Can it be played cross platform? PS4xPs3?

Initial purchase is the game plus 1 month.

And yeah like prepaid cards, and not it counts the whole time but for some paying with one purchase is better then having them deduct it every month.

And yes ps3 ps4 and pc are all on the same servers

Ok I will keep it in mind. I'm getting more interested in this game.

I'm really glad they didn't split the community by having them all be separate.

Also due to the way classes work in this game, you can make one character and still play every class. Since you don't have a level the classes due, and switching them is as simple as doing the start quest for their faction and after that simply changing weapons.

Certain class level combos also unlock new classes

Mind you each class actually has their own unique story. Just you can experience them all with one character if you want to. (actually gives you an exp buff until you reach the same level as your highest class)
