umm idk if this needs to have a spoiler cover or not but just in case.......
I thought Blackest Night #5 was great obviously but one thing i thought was very interesting was
Spoiler:...that's one thing i like about blackest Night is how they are actually keeping in mind details such as that.
how the main lantern from every color attacked the black power battery and it made nekron more powerful.....if you think about it its fitting because black isn't a color its merely the absorption of all colors

Except that multiple colors obliterate the foot soldiers...
Speaking of inconsistencies how come Atrocitus isn't de-powering Hal's ring? I guess because of the blue ring...but why isn't Saint Walker doing the same thing to Sinestro?

that is pretty weird how that works...maybe its just the battery that absorbs them...but if you think about it they do feed on the "colors" (being their emotion)
hope charges will but i don't think it does fear....
thats the only explanation's i can think of

That is just it...during 'Rage of the Red Lanterns' the Blue Lanterns were clearly shown to drain yellow rings...yet this is not happening in BN.
Hal's ring should be going schizo...being constantly drained by Atrocitus and recharged by Saint Walker.

yea i do recall what your saying and it does seem to be a hole of some sort soo maybe your right it was the presence of Saint Walker...i mean in
Spoiler:....so the blue ring can do some pretty crazy things
BN #5 he could even take the avarice from AO but yet his power ring still worked for him

Spectre becoming a Black Lantern?
yea i completely agree...it kinda scares me but i wont say its going to go bad because iv liked it as of far so i will give it the benefit of the doubt.

they only sever the connection. not the same thing iirc...
He doesn't hate Spectre. He just happens to write a lot of DC's big events. And DC created a problem for themselves in Spectre, because he's both powerful enough and well-known enough that he has to be "dealt with" in every big event, or there's a gaping hole in the narrative knowing that he could wave his hand and make things better. A depowerment was inevitable.

He has constantly made Spectre look bad, be it in event (Blackest Night), mini-event (Green Lantern: Rebirth) or just plain-regular series (JSA). Every change he gets, he f*cks him up. And it wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that he doesn't just use a plot-device yet extension of the character to write him out of the events (like Greg Rucka did in Final Crisis or in the older Final Night series) and actively expanding on the character's story, he just flat-out makes him look horrible, so the 'He's just too powerfull to be written' excuse doesn't work since he just doesn't portray him as powerfull. In Johns universe Ganthet points out that he is more powerfull than him, Parallax makes him look like a fool for an extended period of time, King of Tears humiliates him until he goes "Cant do nuthing here! kthxbye!". And these are just a few examples.

...it would be similar with any writer, Phil. As I said, he has to be dealt with. And not every writer, in every event, is going to do away with him in a way that matches with your sensibilities about the nature of the character.
I doubt Johns hates or loves most characters he writes. Spectre's just a hurdle that needs to be jumped in order to tell the story he is interested in. DC would be better off doing away with Spectre, or making his depowerment official and defined, so as to stop the complaining.

that's why i found nekron's absorbing of all their energies rather... dumb.

Spectre becoming a Black Lantern?
it would have been MUCH better had johns gone the 'FC-route' and came up with an explainable way for spectre's power to be rendered ineffective against the black lanterns. at least that would have been a little more understandable. but noooo.

Then there would've been people saying he just copied Morrison and Co. I think Spectre is just a fundamentally flawed character because of the problem he poses for writers, because doing away with him is often a lose/lose in terms of which fans you'll be angering. He was relevant and cool on the old (old) JSA. Modern Spectre hasn't had a good "event" since the first Crisis.
