I'd actually give a chance to Jindal to win Republican nomination, although I'd expect it to be a two-way fight between Jindal and Palin.
Palin was nothing more than a flash in the pan novelty. When she came up, his numbers rose because she was a woman and attractive. Six weeks later, she was sinking him.
I seriously don't think the Republican party is so stupid they're going to put Palin against Obama in 2012.

Are third parties different enough to spoil some Congressional/Senate seats? I know that, for the most part, third parties are almost negligible, due in no small part by the highly restrictive ballot access laws at state/national level that some states enforce. In comparison, Canada is way more lax than the vast majority of U.S. states in regards to ballot access laws, as far as registering parties is concerned.
Canadian ballot access rules (House of Commons-level)
- Must have at least 250 members
- Must run at least 1 candidateQuebec provincial ballot access rules (National Assembly-level)
- Must have at least 100 members
However, registered parties may or may not run candidates and still remain eligible to run at a National Assembly level. Anyway, in both cases, one needs to collect 100 signatures from his/her constituents if one wanted to run as an independent.
I'm sure few states would be Canada-lax in regards to ballot access...
Don't the ballots have "other: please specify"? Obviously the named choices have an advantage but they seem to mainly be there for convinience sake.

A "Other: please specify" slot is a write-in slot for me. Canadian ballots have no write-in slot (probably why Canada is more inclusive in ballot access)
Maybe write-in slots on ballots come at a steep price as far as accessing the ballot as a "named" choice is concerned. (Oklahoma gives you an idea as to how steep that cost actually is)
One question: who else would go against Jindal? Mitt Romney? Mike Huckabee? Ron Paul?

I'm all for killing old and retarded people too, beacuse I'm like Hitler. 😐
(Yes, I'm joking.)
But, still, I don't want to pay for old people. I don't care if they can't afford to live. Tough. Die. I want to put all the money I crap out for SS and Medicare....in my OWN savings, and then retire with that. Not give it to some old people who didn't plan their life as well as I WISH I could.

You don't want to pay for old people but you're willing to pay for everything else? You actually want to pay the gomment to tell you what Dr. you can and can't see? The gomment can't even organize medicaid and medicare and you're willing to trust them entirely with your health? Why would you puke all over the trust in the DR's? Hospitals are better off when they're under the control of actual Doctors. Private care is a luxory that we deserve. Why do you want to see that be taken away?

Private healthcare hardly puts hospitals under the control of doctors.

Certainly. 🙂
I'm capitalist. 🙂
I earned it. I keep it. I don't pay for you, who didn't earn it. You can't have it. 🙂

No.
I don't trust the government with my health.
That's why I have private insurance and I see private doctors. 🙂
I think you quoted the wrong person. Did you?
I don't see how your post, in anyway, contradicts mine. I just said that I don't want to pay for medicare and SS.
