I hope the Hobbit stays at two films.. and the third film is just appendices stuff.Maybe showing what most of the fellowship was up to directly before the Fellowship.
That's not going to happen; the third film is not going to become some long epilogue. Audiences will revolt.
Makes me wonder where he will choose to cut the narrative cord, though. It's not like ending roughly like they did in the three books; this is only one.
My guess is:
- The first film will end with the successful escape from the goblins in the Misty Mountains, Frodo has the ring from Gollum, they meet Beorn and enter the woods of Mirkwood.
- The second film will end with the battle with Smaug, and the journey back to the Lonely Mountain.
Leaving the third film to deal with the buildup around the mountain and the battle of five armies.
I wounder how far back peter jackson will go ?
...Is it bad that I'm more excited about this?
Hehe, I preordered my copy some months ago. However, since it's my approximately fiftieth different translation, it doesn't quite raise the same amount of excitement as the movie - yet. Maybe it's the lack of preview pictures and video blogs...
Back to the movie: a Games Workshop character list includes quite an amount of surprising new characters and groups. While Games Workshop usually invents (or borrows from the book) an amount of characters not found in the movie, several of the unexpected names have already been assigned to actors. Along with all the creatues, one of the most interesting confirmed guys is Braga, found in the list as "Braga and the Goldscale Worshippers". Is that an implementation of Tolkien's comment that some of the dwarves in the east might have fallen under Sauron's shadow? "Fell hatchlings" sounds similar. Generally, the section "Grey Mountains dragons" sounds quite promising, but I have no clue how that should integrate into the Hobbit storyline. Historical flashbacks? In the context of the Five Armies? The "Thorin collects company" scene?

He looks ambiguously gay; that's an Elf.
He looks like a space elf. Not very wood-ish.
New photos, though not very exciting - except for the information that this banner:

NEW TRAILER! Only new scenes, and highly spoilerish ones.
2nd TV trailer with an (unspectacular) talking troll.
Ugh. Rumour has it that...
Carne, quoting official movie guide
- Dori, Nori and Ori have the same mother but different fathers.
- Bombur has 12 children.
- The Great Goblin sings a song (he's tone deaf so it's going to sound horrible 😛).
- The Great Goblin's throne is also a toilet, so he doesn't have to move if he really needs to drop a cable 😛
- There will be bearded dwarf women and children in the movie.
