STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Broken

You leave the room, then, with the Geometamorpher sparking and glowing ominously. Cracks start forming in the walls of that round room- where the device ended up after the Sith used it to defeat the Republic here on Ord Coridari. It won't survive another eruption, not now that you've damaged it.

You are very disappointed to find that Rand has severed the bridge; it has fallen into the lava flow. However, he did not destroy the main supports hanging from the ceiling, though they sway dangerously now as the quakes begin.

Rianna simply stares at where the bridge used to be for a moment, before forcing herself to climb up on the remaining supports and carefully pick her way across the lava flow, clinging tightly to the supports and being very glad that she is as agile as she is...

It is more of a jump than a climb, and you are at -2 to your dice pool to make the jump up to the supports while carrying Vera-Kin... but Leaping doubles your Agility and the deduction comes after, so you make it just fine.

The lava flow is starting to rush and bubble violently by the time you make it across, and it starts overflowing by the time you reach the lift shaft.

The lift has ascended with Rand; you'll have to wait for it to return, if Rand hasn't sabotaged it.

There isn't any other way up, is there?

Rianna will recall the lift back down there, hoping that Rand didn't sabotage it and that it'll return to the bottom fast enough.

This is the only lift that goes so deep.

While you wait, cracks start forming in the walls and across the floor. At one point, a rock falls and nearly crushes you, but Vera-Kin instinctually stops it.

And then... the lift arrives. Rand did not sabotage it.

As soon as the lift arrives, Rianna enters it, hitting the controls to bring them back up to the surface.

Then, while on their way up, she's going to set down Vera-Kin and rest for the moment, inspecting her wound.

"I really don't think I could have botched this any worse..." she says quietly to herself.

It is an agonizing lift ride upward, Rianna- before you get in, you saw a glimmer of lava in the tunnels behind you. The rumbling of the quakes is become violent and you are worried that it will shake the lift off of its repulsor-track and send you hurtling down into the rising lava...

But it does not. You come out on the edge of the Great Rift, which is now clouded by torrents of rock slides and columns of smoke...

Vera-Kin- you sense that the danger is overwhelming. It is a matter of moments before the eruption occurs... you will not get out of there in time if you try to outrun it.

What about the speeder we took to get here? Is it still there and would it get us away fast enough?

They dropped us off, remember?

Vera-Kin is going to suggest that we call Colby and see if he can pick us up. He may have gone back to the ship since we last saw him since he was trying to get out of the hospital...

Ahh, yes.

That works and is probably the best idea...

Are you calling Colby then?

Yes! Definitely. Rianna will pull out her comm and do that now.

"Colby! We're by the Rift. We need to be picked up now before this entire place blows up..." she says into it.

"What the hell is happening?" Colby asks. "The whole city is shaking. I'll be right there, just need to power up..."

You can't go on, Rianna. Your wound is hampering you too greatly, and carrying Vera-Kin is too much of a hastle. You collapse on the outskirts of Ein, dropping the wounded Jedi Master.

It is a dramatic rescue that Colby makes. The quakes worsen and everything threatens to shake itself apart. The ground begins fragment and jut up where the pressure is too great; bursts of steam and smoke issue from the cracks that form.

You both sense the time of the eruption is close at hand... when the Viloc descends with its cargo ramp opened.

Rianna uses up whatever strength she has left to get back up, forcing herself to stay on her feet long enough to get herself and Vera-Kin onto the ship. Then she'll let herself collapse again, quite content with the idea of not moving for some time.

Barker races out to help you aboard, grabbing you both and dragging you up the ramp with his powerful Wookiee arms...

The Viloc pulls away from the street as people pour into the street, moving away from the mines as the ground starts to give way from the quakes. Screams fill the air, but are soon drowned out by the rumbling...

The Viloc quickly makes it to a low orbit, far away from where the trouble is. Below, you can see the cliff-face of the Great Rift of Ord Cordari collapsing, falling into the deep crevice and exposing the molten lava that starts pouring forth.

It is in high orbit- as safe as can be from the eruption- that you see the side of the Rift closest to Ine explode horribly in a tremendous, unnatural flash...

Rianna can't bring herself to watch any of the events happening below on the planet, too upset with herself and what her recklessness caused, even though she had thought it would have stopped things.

She can't help but notice the bright flash, though. "That would be that cursed device..." she mutters.

Whatever happens next is obscured by the black cloud that starts to cover Ine.

Vera-Kin has passed out again. She needs medical help, and is now screaming as she senses the stream of deaths below.

"We need to get away from here, and somewhere we can find medical attention," Rianna says wearily to Colby, closing her eyes and trying to not think of the destruction occurring on the planet below them. "I don't think there's anything we can do here to help..."

"We're just going to bail on them?" Colby asks.

"I don't want to...but I can't even think of anything we can do to help. I'm certainly in no shape to do anything, and neither is Vera-Kin...maybe if there's high ground that's safe from the eruption, then we could try and transport people, but that's about it," Rianna replies.
