The cop slammed her, now she's the bad guy.If the cop would have tazed her, the cop is the bad guy.
If the cop grabs her and cuffs her, breaking her arm, the cop is the bad guy.
Where was the old ladies family?
The cop, being both the person who is both trained and paid to uphold the law should have accessed that it was a frail old woman, who's probably a bit soft in the brain and not slammed her to the floor.
This is especially since he already had her knife hand locked.

Too much force? Nah. Regardless of age and mental disabilities, threatening with a knife needed to be dealt with. Nobody got hurt. The woman was released from the hospital. What is there to discuss?
When i decide to go after a cop with a knife, i dont want him/her to bust my head open.
Comprede???

Yet slamming her ass onto the floor, after he has already secured her deadly knife wielding elderly hand, was excessive.

Dude, she's a frail old lady, it wouldnt take much to cuff her.
lol, no, totally
all kidding aside, people who generally work with people with mental disabilities go through NVCI training (non-violent crisis intervention) to deal with situations exactly like this. It is a little bit BS in other ways (like you can't quickly grab someones arm to stop their hand, because it is too much like a strike), but that a well trained police officer couldn't do some of the really basic stuff taught in that is, imho, inexcusable.
I'd go even bigger picture though. Why do these cops not know that elderly people acting crazy are more likely mental health issues than serious criminal issues? Why was she approaching the situation as if that type of physical control was even necessary. As Robtard said, she sort of effortlessly immobilized the knife hand, an arm on the shoulder and a call to her family, boom, situation dealt with.
I was just being silly 'cause I thought this was a no-brainer 🙂
Which is probably the case, as the 3 female officers I had to deal with yelled and were overtly aggressive when there was no cause to be. I've also witnessed similar behaviour from female officers as a bystander.
Still though, slamming of the senile grandma was excessive, inferiority complex of the female officer or no.
