Thanos was shown to be an equal to Prof X and AW on the astral plane. Nate was so strong he pulled Xaviers astral form to the real world which should be nigh-impossible and this was even before the Shaman upgrade.

His power-levels were also apparently equal to Dark Phoenix whose power-level readings by Reed Richards were equal to you know who.

Nate couldn't reach those powers for more than a few seconds because he would burn out his clone body, he doesn't have this problem anymore because of the Shaman upgrade.

So what if Thanos has sufficient telepathic defenses to at least stall Nate, Nate is a high class telepathic who can destroy a city in his sleep, Literally.
