Gotta be Jackie Brown for me.
Awesome dialogue, awesome performances for all cast members. I loved Jackie's and Max Cherry's characters. Deniro and Jackson could not have been more perfectly cast. Some people found the movie to be slow, but I found every second entertaining and significant. Awesome soundtrack. The opening scene is beautifull (The Graduate homage). I love Pump Fiction/Reservoir dogs... but Jackie Brown has heart -- it stands separate from the rest .
True Romance is my favorite work that he wrote. Wonderful movie.
Just saw Inglorious Basterds last night. I liked it, although I thought many scenes and even some characters were unnecessary. The movie was a bit too long, and the character development was lacking -- for a Tarantino film. Pitt was great, as was mostly everybody else. Some scenes were just straight out awesome, like the basement taven scene.

To be honest I don't know whether I thought Reservoir Dogs or Inglorious Basterds was better, it's a toss up.

Out of curiousity, which scenes from IB did you think were unnecessary?
Also, my problem with Tarantino has always been this - do his movies have substance? Sometimes I find themes/ideas/etc. worthy of chewing on and thinking about, but a lot of the time I just think that maybe his films are just really entertaining, like really well-written popcorn flicks (exluding Jackie Brown because it's been far too long since I've seen it/I don't remember it that well).
What are KMC's thoughts on this? Do QT's movies provide anything other than entertainment?

I thought that a lot of the scenes that were about the Jewish cinema owner (I forget her name) were unnecessary. Her relationship/romance with the projectionist (and the German war hero) were extremely anti-climatic and unnecessary. I wish the movie would have had more time devoted to developing the characters of The Bastards themselves. Of course, this is all my humble opinion.
As for your question about "substance"... IMO I think that both Kill Bill movies as well as Death Proof are nothing but "popcorn movies" ... that is why they are at the bottom of my list.
EDIT: To answer your question... no, I personally do not go to a Tarantino film and expect to see something with "substance". Tarantino's movies though, as you said, are well written, directed and etc.
