No, it was speculated for ages. The article which was posted last night, makes it more official.
No, some of us knew better. Not just speculation. but actual knowledge. Because I at least knew about how Disney operates.

This doesn't really put me at ease.

Most of us knew they wouldn't start tampering with Wolverine and Spidey. It's the less popular MAX series and such that I'm concerned about. The series that can logically be cut from an economical point of view.

If its not making them money and costing them money then it doesn't matter who is in charge if cutting it is a good idea.

I've had series turned into miniseries and then canceled on me. I'm afraid I can't muster much sympathy for you. Especially not if it doesn't really have to do with it being Disney, and it having to do with it being a failing series.

How does that fit into the original concern, though? That being that Disney will cut shit they don't find appropriate.

You're now shifting your argument to "Disney will cut what isn't making money.". Uhh...so?

Sucks, for sure. Thanos was a great series, as was Surfer's last, but they perished because they didn't sell. This doesn't change anything.

Don't recall shifting or changing my argument.

I still believe that Disney would cut MAX simply because it doesn't fit them. An interview where a Disney bigshot says that he won't change Spidey or Wolverine doesn't make a lick of difference, I was never afraid of that. I never, ever said that I was concerned that Marvel's mainstream characters would change much. Now I simply said that since MAX titles do not pay off much, there is -no- chance that Disney will keep it.

You're welcome to try and dig up a post where I did.

Based on what?

Based on what?

The fact that it doesn't fit them.

Yeah, but they don't cut what doesn't fit the traditional Disney image.

See: Miramax films.

So, based on what?

Miramax is not a fitting example.

Why isn't it? Because they will not be using Marvel in the same way.

They purchased Marvel because they want to reach out to boys and male teenagers. As well as use some characters for Pixar or whatever they want. I fail to see how any of the MAX titles can fill these criteria.

How many times do you need it explained?

They don't want to REACH OUT to males. They just want the money that comes WITH having a male fanbase.

They do not need to reach out to males because now they own a company that has been successfully doing so for 70 years.

Do you not understand that?

This is why they bought Marvel for twice it's value, to leave it untouched. The Disney mark will reach the comic shelves, and there will -never- be an adult comic printed with the words "Disney" on it. There is no reason why they would continue to put money into a comic that targets an audience they have no interest in.

Disney's always been big on Movies and Cartoons for their characters. I hope they put 2 + 2 together and do the same with the Marvel characters..

I hope they put more money into comics, so we can keep Immortal Iron Fist.

It all depends on how well the Ironfist comics are selling. Unfortunately, companies only invest on what sells. I hope that makes sense. 😬

Of course, but a title that's selling moderately well might still get cut if the company is struggling.

What's all that based on?

I have facts, statements and logic. Do you have ANYTHING besides fear? Honestly?

Just as there will never be a horror movie with the words Disney attached to it.

Disney lets their subsidiaries do what they want.

They are not allergic to making money.

What audience are they not interested in? If Disney wasn't interested in that audience it wouldn't have bought Miramax back in 1993.

So clearly they have an interest in that audience.
