No

Faith was never about discovery of the truth.
Faith by definition is only ever required in abscence of information or in the face of all proof contradicting said belief.

If there was evidence for it, faith wouldn't be required.

Religious institutions shit themselves utterly when reason, common sense, and logic shine light on their historically ignorant and repressive regimes. They've always been about concealment.

Ask Galileo.

wasn't always true. But still, the question must be asked, what percentage of the US population is completely retarded?

Indeed.

10 to 15 percent?

I would say it's closer to 40%

A very large portion. As they'll shit on Evolution theory because it doesn't have every single little detail in place, yet they'll accept that some religious test written and re-written by man as the infallible word of a being they can't see or prove.

Edit: Then again, a portion of that population has become smarter and adapted to the times, as they've picked up ID, which doesn't do away with Evolution, just adds a creater (aka God) to it.

As long as its not reworked at anytime by Creationalists...

......Oops.

A little blanketed of you to say..

Mormonism strongly encourages an education. In fact, Mormons, on average, have more degrees and a higher IQ than the American population. Our former prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley stated that we should only go into debt for our homes and our education...if that tells you how important seeking out knowledge is to Mormons.

I disagree.

Mormonism is another man made religion just like any other when you get down to it.

Every person of faith maintains that others are shit, whilst their own is the truth.

Besides. 'Historically', I said.

(Let me know when your faith has been around long enough to apply the word History to it.) 😛

I'm not denying that. Just debunking your idea that:

"Faith was never about discovery of the truth.
Faith by definition is only ever required in abscence of information or in the face of all proof contradicting said belief."

Clearly, Mormonism is very adamant about discovering truth.

This is truer among Mormons than most other religions, I assure you. 😉

A religion that was founded in the 1820s hasn't been around long enough to be considered "historical" for you? Damn, I guess that U.S. isn't historical to you, as well...being just a few decades older. 😄

I don't think its retarded to believe what you were taught as a child by every person with whom you make trusting relationships

people don't have a "science detector", they can't know the things they are taught aren't scientific, nor can you really fault them for not thinking the scientific consensus is important, or for really misunderstanding science in the first place.

sure, they are preventing scientific progress, but it is rather unfair to expect people brought up in mega conservative homes to be scientists.

as far as the movie issue, producers know how to make money. If there is no demand in the market for something, so be it.

As I recall Galileo was locked up for being a dick.

Christians eventually allowed the Da Vinci Code and The Last Temptation of Christ, to mention Mel Gibson's snuff film Jesus Jamboree but a biopic on Darwin is too controversial?

You got it. Given that the world is like 4.5 billion years old, your recent history is nothing. 😛

you would include in this their 'acceptance' [sic] of genetic and historical evidence against their faith?

😂 It was for destroying the church's view that the Earth was the center of anything at all, let alone the universe.
