League of Champions Battlezone Challenge- Charlotte vs Psycho Gundam

BZ matches are a lil looser in format. A final summary is cool.

i'm still deciding too. will let you know asap.

So is there a final post to sum it up?

So, the summary.

I've already adressed ALL my prep concepts in details AND with scans. Now to the battle plan.

1. The main thing here on Gundam's side is a neutraliser, which decides the game IF it hits. However, he seems to mess on the gas thing=useless power.
2. Needles are more dangerous, but:
a)a feat of reflex transmutation was shown (under pretty much the same condition- self-induced explosion propelling the shrapnel);
b)cutting through something that seals immediately in process of cutting means that device would get stick
3.Nothing to justify the immunity of Apocalypse and Jeffries towards mind-blasts. As shown there

mindblasts can KO people\creatures immune to mind reading and mind control (Storm, Magik I, Phalanx), and ours are top tier ones.

Jeffries and Apocalypse level of resistance does vary, so mindblasts from three telepaths with top tier powerset= KO.

summery eh...

- my team is pretty much safe from unfriendly psychic intrusion, be it mind blast or more subtle
maneuvers.

apocalypse has even reflected jean while the former was connected to whom she has a permanent psi-link with (cyclops) there by passing his mental defenses, and still
got pimp slapped:

"and by connecting with him--directly bypassing all your physical and psionic defenses."

even with the keys to the city she was shut down, and i don't remember creating psi links with any of charlotte's troops to even entertain that ploy, not like it would help.

- magic attuned to take out technology is nice, but apocalypse isn't the same as those affected, he's not even metallic.
madison can rebuild assuming it hits in the first place, but he already spread his effects by then and apocalypse is the still totally unaffected.

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/2208/alphaflight5816.jpg

- my physical attacks, and i have a HELL of a lot more coming from my end (minds out of the gutter y'all) are backed
by certified savage hulk strangling, class-100 strength, speed of sasori and even apocalypse himself who has yet to miss a target with his
telescopic appendages believe it or not, sasori likewise.

not only are they uber strong, but each arm can:

-carry the de-powering effect (more on that later)
-fire boulder melting flamethrowers
-fire energy rays, courtesy of apocalypse
-deliver lethal venom in which they are coated in thanks to sasori
-use alchemy to transmute obstacles or objects, chemistro's doing
-attach chackra strings onto my adversaries in which further struggling is out of the question.

http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/1981/v30ch27117.png

and he has lots of arms, it's like two per opponent without sprouting more:

http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/8533/apocaosas5.jpg

- charlotte's team is encased in shield tech, that tech shouldn't hold out due to limited
rectification being that they are small, portable versions and outputting a lot of energy to keep themselves active.
they shouldn't even be sufficient to defend against one tachyon imbued, class-100
bludgeoning.

the arms will succeed where persuader failed due to configuration. persuader's blade would penetrate but only that due to the nature of the weapon/wielder,
the difference here is the arms fallow the same path the cutting surface does at the front and keep going in an earthworm-like movement.

another detractor for the shield is that the same arms will be delivering the gas that will penetrate the shield like normal gas particles
the legion was breathing on their side of the field in the scan provided showcasing them, so it's by no means protected by that.
madison also by this time has cascaded the environment with the gas with his super turbines, so it's already there.

- range isn't a problem for the de-powering effect either since we can take the entire show on the road if need be:

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/5369/powers24.png

- now the meat of the matter is the de-powering effect.
it's being argued by my opposition that it's relegated to "subtle mental suggestion".....mmm.
even if that were true, it is only true for it's first incarnation, two scientists with different approaches have collaborated to
reverse engineer it to their specifications. charlotte couldn't even convincingly seperate the gas from the effect, every point aiming to limit it's hold over the situation wasn't sufficient or concrete.

and as i posted earlier, it's power covers:

-mutants
-aliens
-meta humans
-cybernetically enhanced
-deities (of magical empowerment)
-and sentry, and whatever gives him his abilities.

all indiscriminately without detection by any of them, super-senses or not.

not only does it de-power, but it also keeps the victims subdued.

- i've also summoned a powerful puppet that can continue the fight if anything somehow
survives the onslaught, which adds an entire new chapter of this fight in of itself.

c'mon, that shit is cool.

and the sonic scream:

Reading through it.

I'll have my verdict up in a couple of hours.

Each post/replies got me switching sides and good debating coming from both..

Well here's my 2 cents, Initial prep between this two opposing teams is quite interesting; One focuses on depowerment (PsychoGundam) and the other for boosting (Charlotte), each team are very well suited to explore/attack each others weakness and to which the first to strike seals the deal. This here is why i take PGundams team at a disadvantage he is fighting blind at opening/initial match up as to Charlotte's team spending some time in they're prep for enemy locations therefore they have initial surprise attack via bombardment of massive mind (tp/tk) assault, tech dispersal spells and sonic scream at a distant far from the reach of those visible gaseous cloud and depowering field, another - PGundam's team is that they spent no prep time for additional Psi shielding, that would have put the match lapsided in favor of him but with just Apoc. psi. defenses its not going to be enough and if they do make it through Charlotte teams initial attack they wouldn't be unscathed..

So i quess im voting for Charlotte's team, her tactics works far more faster, more effective... Very entertaining match.. Thank you..

😕

Though it pains me to vote against Apocalype, I have to cast my vote in favor of Charlotte. Primarily due to her initial offensive being to take out the tech of Gundam's team, which is his primary means of assault (the neutralizer). No other attacks/options were really addressed by Gundam, which is too bad because he has a lot of options. Though I don't feel the psionic assault on Apocalypse & Box would down them, that coupled with the magical and transmutation attacks Charlotte proposed give me the impression that they'd be able to overwhelm Gundam eventually given the limited resistance he opted to present. You let Charlotte bait you into an argument on the merits of the nullifying gas rather then fleshing out how regardless of whether the gas worked or not you still had the tools to get the job done. Very inventive plans all around though. Luckily with this format you can makes some tweaks to your roster and have a rematch.

sorry for not posting guys. i just started a new job and things have been hectic as hell. if you still want my vote, i have two of the next three days off and am willing...

Completely missed this little bit.

I'll start writing on my conclusion now.

Part of the reasons why I had a hard time deciding on this, was because it was difficult to determine the power of each side’s telepathy and telepathic resistance. Do telepathic powers stack? Would adding the telepathy of two weaker beings to a stronger one make any difference? Would it be great or barely noticeable? This was one of the first bumps in the road I needed to overcome before being able to reach a conclusion. Simply put I decided to dive into some random comics from x-men, infinity crusade and various other respect threads.

I found my first clue in the infinity crusade, hence why I bothered mentioning it, when Thanos tapped into Xavier’s telepathy. A pretty clear incident of someone tapping into another person’s telepathy and their powers being combined. Fortunately, it turned out that I did not have to do much more research on my own, thanks to the scans provided. Which was good, it would not have been a proper battle zone if I had to dig out all the answers myself. This question was naturally not a fault on your part, but rather a nasty little side-effect that always occurs when characters are being amalgated.

This match had an enormous intellect on each side, which meant that both participants would be inclined to bet on technology. After finishing the second page, I noticed one of the errors that could cost Psycho the victory. He relied a bit too much on the empowering device. It could have worked, how close, had it not been for the fact that Faust relies mostly on his own abilities and not some separate source. It is through that most magic is channelled through some other medium, but it is also mostly knowledge. Anyone who read the Fantastic Four Saga ”Unthinkable”, noticed Pixie in New X-men’s magical growth or picked up practically any comic with Felix Faust in them, would know this. It’s not -just- some innate ability, but it’s belief and knowledge. The gas would not take this away.

But me noticing this doesn’t do anything, Charlotte is the one who has the provide the arguments against this. For a while it did not seem like she would, but then in the middle of page 3, it appeared. Right after what I would consider Psycho’s second strike. Apocalypse and the other amalgam’s bodies do not function in the same as Sasori’s does. The only reason why he could put himself together was due to having all his charka/soul essentially being tucked away in the -particularly- vulnerable bullseye on his chest. To do this to Apocalypse would be to -severely- weaken him and you should be glad I did not consider things to go that way. The durability of said seal is incredibly weak, a single stab from a katakana was sufficient to take it out. Apocalypse’s overall durability is faaaar superior to Sasori and any potential benefits gained from being able to piece yourself together, would be far outweighed by the immense loss in durability.

Charlotte forgot to put up an extra layer of defence as far as the depowering technology worked. If this happened to be as gas, a single spell from Felix Faust should have been able to remove it. If it had indeed been a gas, then our resident magician would not only ignore its effects (which he does anyways) and sort it out for everybody. Not to mention them already having a wind manipulator. Factoring in what magic is, Charlotte’s depowering technology, wind manipulation and superior reaction speed (this one was a bit debatable), there is no way that the depowering technology would get them.

When it got down to the actual battle, depowering nonsense aside, Psycho’s Apocalypse is a powerhouse. The main problem is his incredible reliance on technology. Good ol’ Nur has actually integrated technology into his own body and while (in my opinion) he is the most powerful character here, he would be struck -very- hard by the anti-tech spell. Apocalypse has resistance to magic, why didn’t I see this scan here Psycho? Selene’s old companion Candra specifically referenced Apoaclypse’s aptitude in magic! Regardless of that, he does not have sufficient showings to withstands the incoming telepathic assault.

In the end it was a great effort on both sides, but Charlotte did a better job in covering her rear and convincing me that her plan would succeed. I can not go by my own knowledge, I have to go by what’s presented here. Psycho had some excellent choices, but put his focus on the wrong things. Alas, there are no half-votes and I only have one to give.

1 vote for Charlotte.

I guess that determines Charlotte as the winner, congratulations.

Well, thank you all...and thanks to Gundam for good and entertaining match.

all i needed was a mulligan on that op and it would have been so different, fighting charlotte is always a good learning experience that's for sure.

"I'll get you next time gadgetcharlotte.....NEXT TIIIIIIIIME!!!"

good game.

heh, how did i lose this again?
