Dooku's Makashi vs. Mace Windu's Vaapad (Lightsaber Only)

Started by Darth Subjekt3 pages

What? He was the temple's Bowel Movement... that's gotta count for something...... right?

Yeah. It means Vader beat the guy cause his skills weren't worth shit.

based on the fact that dooku has to constantly draw on the (unavailable) force to sustain himself in combat.

Pretty obvious if you ask me. WIthout the force, dooku is an old man against an in his prime Samuel Jackson.

RotS was his physical prime? Unless he's in his twenties, I don't think so.

i kinda forgot, wasn't Windu supposed to be in his 50's in ROTS? Which is whack considering old ben was like 54 when he died....

Meh, Ben was a retired actor living the life of desert luxury. Indulging in each of the 7 deadly sins once a week certainly won't keep you fit enough to take on a Sith Lord.

OX!!!! WTF?!?! Where have you been???

Hey man, it's been a while. Good to hear from you. 🙂 I've been busy with my study. I'm afraid anonymously debating Star Wars on an internet forum with a myriad of seedy/retarded/socially deprived users had to take a back seat.

Stop being a knob. You know what the thread creator meant. By your logic there wouldn't be a lightsaber duel at all, seeing as how both combatants need the force in order to capitalise on their precognitive abilities; which are an essential part of lightsaber duelling.

Yeah cos the fight in ANH really needed precog. then.

Dooku loses.

Based on what? Your opinion? Dooku mastered the most technical form to it's highest degree, and was more than proficient in all other forms, as he was the BM for the temple. [/B]

Do you have proof for any of those three statements (Makashi being the most technical form, Dooku mastering it to its highest degree, and the BM position requiring high proficiency in all other forms)?

Damn right it did. How else would Vader have known that Kenobi was really Bruce Wizansky?

I actually wasn't aware that Dooku was the battlemaster. And Makashi is the most technical in terms of pure saber combat. That's what it's explicitly designed for and Dooku is THE master at it.

Is any information given to explain the extent of Dooku's mastery of Makashi or his relative position among other Makashi masters? And yeah, with respect to lightsaber on lightsaber combat, sure, however in general terms I think Soresu would best fit that description.

I'm sorry. I forgot that Count Dooku hadn't fought a duel in almost 20 years, and that he lived on an Outer Rim planet with almost no interaction with any other force users. And it must have slipped my mind that Mace Windu had four robotic limbs, wore a 120kg armor suit and relied on a life support system to survive.

As I thought... saying that Dooku's THE master of Makashi is all well and good until somebody asks those two questions.

Essential Guide to Characters tells us he and Yoda were the only Jedi to have defeated him (Windu) at sparring, and after Mace developed Vapaad, they were even in terms of saber combat.

Oh funny. I was mereley stating that that fight could of been done with the Force hell, me and my nephew have more impressive fights than that and were not Force Sensitive.

From the OS:

"Despite his stubbornness, the Jedi Archives record Dooku as being a formidable Jedi. He settled numerous disputes on scattered worlds and was unequaled in a classical form of lightsaber combat. Dooku was a man of remarkable character and remarkable lineage. His birthright as the Count of Serenno also afforded him incredible wealth, which he used in his political career as Separatist leader."

Could mean unequaled as a practitioner of Makashi... the quote obviously cannot be applied as a coverall statement in that Yoda was most assuredly superior to Count Dooku regarding both lightsaber a n d Force mastery.

Got necro? I do.

Mace wins. Then they have a boxing match.

Well obviously Dooku wins that.
