I just had this grand idea of having a hockey RP game...I would have templates such as Goon/Goal Scorer/Playmaker for forwards, Stay at Home/Offensive/Bone Crusher for defenseman, and Butterfly/Reflex/Flopper for goaltenders. The idea would be to not only win on the ice but behind the scenes...It takes more than on-ice talent to win games, it takes team chemistry. That will be part of the game, if you have poor chemistry, your chances of making a play successfully(with a teamate) are lower. I can go more in depth if there's any interest. I can also explain the terms and such to those who aren't fans of the sport. BTW, it will be much deeper than just a "sports" RPG.
There would be a certain amount of moves per game...I'll figure out how to work it if enough people want to play. Ush, how does the rolling of the dice thing work...I have lots of di here but I don't understand how or what you do for "Points" and such(like your RP games...) Could you please explain?
What don't you understand?
There's usually 12 forwards on a team.
6 defensemen.
1 goalie.(2 but we'll get into that later)
They each would have their own moves and their own percentage of getting the move done(which, I'm guessing will be done by the dice.)
Each type of player would have a certain template which would have it's own "Abilities".
For example, if a forward chooses the "Speedster" template he would have an already alloted amount of attributes towards speed and agility(and their cooresponding moves) which would let him go AROUND people. A power forward would have strenght moves to go through defensemen.
For goaltenders, you would have a better chance of stopping low shots and open shots as a butterfly goaltender. Better chance of stopping multiple, close rebound shots as a flopper. And somewhere in between for a position.
If anyone has questions, ask me. I consider myself knowledgable in hockey but I might need some help from experienced RP hosts to run this like I want. That, of course is just "in the game". There will definatly be situations outside the game...
this sounds cool. I never understood the rules of hockey though, there seem to be way too many ways to foul. On hockey video games I was fouled, or fouled every 5 seconds and had to start again... lol. However, if you can get this to work I would play! 🙂
I think a way to work with dice is if you have a D100(most people have two D10s) which is a dice with 100 numbers on. You give everyone's stats a score out of a hundred and when you roll for them you try and get under taht score... I don't know if this is how Ush does it though.
someone needs to make a decent Dragon Ball Z RPG, that Goku guy that started one really sucked, and the people that began playing quit, because they didn't like how he was running it. I would start one, but i don't have the time to make the rules for stats, species, attacks, and everything else, but the storyline, and everything else would be very user-friendly, with the players doing alot of interacting by themselves, w/o a storyteller to monitor them or direct them in every single thing they do.
