Tyrant Vs. Odin

You use the word "prepped" like Thanos set some elaborate plan up to help him take down Tyrant. All he did was learn about his history. Yes, he took one of a multitude of orbs Tyrant had, but there are too many questions surrounding that. Why did Thanos amp himself if he specifically stated he wanted to match his might against Tyrant? Why didn't Tyrant acknowledge the amp when Thanos blasted him? If Thanos could use the orb to amp himself, why did he need tech to drain it afterwards?

Do you realize that the entire Cosmic Powers mini series was basically Thanos prepping to fight Tyrant? SIX issues of him gathering information and allies to fight Tyrant. As opposed to just dropping in on Asgard to deliver an insane Thor for Odin to cure. He didn't go to Asgard looking for a fight.

Yes yes, using his newly acquired BSE absorption ability, one he apparently didn't have in the original fight w/Galactus or in his battle with the heralds.

Galactus showed no fear against other beings that he stood no chance against. Must mean Tyrant would have beaten them, too.

Then how do you explain a pissed Galactus BACKING down from DP Tyrant BEFORE the "BSE" ability was even introduced? Marz wrote that issue not Lackey.

I realize that, but all it did was give him information about Tyrant's past, which doesn't help in a fight. The allies were only there as a distraction while Thanos got what he wanted. He even took out one of his own allies so they wouldn't get in the way. Again, the point of the series was because Thanos was bored and went looking for a challenge worthy of his might. There's no point in doing that if he had to artificially augment himself to meet that challenge.

Didn't go looking for a fight in Asgard? So he just assumed they would let him, one of the most notorious villains in the universe, waltz right in with Thor incapacitated and not attack him? Give Thanos a little more credit than that.

Galactus admitted he wasn't ready to face Tyrant yet. However, Tyrant said he wasn't ready to face Galactus either but would if he had to.

Are you serious? In six issues, he went searching for info on Tyrant and any weakness he may have. He comes across Terrax and Terrax tells him plain as day "the Orbs are his greatest asset and his greatest vulnerability should they be turned against him". Then Thanos uses his pawns as a distraction and gets his hands on an Orb.

Thanos did not go there looking for a fight and that's even mentioned on panel I believe. Just like Thanos wasn't looking for a fight vs Insane Thor with Power Gem, Pip just TPed his @$$ on Thanos ship and Thor let loose on Thanos. Same with the Asgard fiasco, they attacked him first, not the other way around.

Galactus admitted he wasn't ready to face Tyrant yet. However, Tyrant said he wasn't ready to face Galactus either but would if he had to.

And why don't you continue with the narrative? Tyrant asked what Galactus wanted and Galactus said he only wants his herald or there would be war between them. Tyrant said you can have them all back except your herald, then it was Galactus that backed down, not Tyrant. And this was DP Tyrant BEFORE any BSE ability was mentioned (like I said earlier Marz wrote this issue and the Cosmic Powers series and Lackey wrote the later Tyrant appearances, he's the one that introduced the BSE power source).

They are Tyrant's greatest asset and weakness because those are what he stores all of the energy he absorbs from others in. If those were taken away from him, then he isn't as big of a threat as he could be.

Again, Thanos needed a machine to access its power at the end of the series. He even states that he's probing it to learn its secrets and gain even more knowledge, not power.

Thanos definitely wasn't looking for a fight against Thor. However, Thanos is entering the realm of a warrior race with Thor in tow. Not to mention that he's a villain. It would be completely idiotic and out of character for him not to expect a fight. If it says he wasn't expecting a fight on panel, please post the scan. I do know for sure, however, that he willingly engages Odin instead of letting Warlock handle it.

So, with every enemy that Galactus has ever faced, including those whose powers dwarf his own, he's never backed down or shown fear. Tyrant is the only one. Why is that?
