Correct-John Romita Jr, for instance likes to portray Hulk as bleeding like a stuck pig, after the slightest attack. When Hulk fights Thing, in WWH, Ben lands a flurry of punches, which fail to stun Hulk, but bust his face right up. Several panels later, when Hulk has taken Ben out, Romita still has him bleeding-this is despite the fact that Hulk's Hf should have taken care of his facial custs in seconds. Too many Marvel artists these days depict the Hulk (who historically had insanely high durability) as crap durability and all healing factor. Romita seems to depict him with neither

Well, there's no question Hulks muscles are tougher carver. But, were talking about the epidermis i.e. skin. Hulk's skin (not factoring regenerative properties) isn't as tough as Colossus or Cages even if he is more durable overall.

As for their classic encounter, it still ended with the impartial narrator saying the claws did "score" the armor and how it was "no match" for pure adamantium.

Hellverine =amped Logan. Whereas WWH faced a normal Logan. Not to mention, his eyes got taken out by Laura.

Eyes are usually the most vulnerable part of the body, though. As noted by Logan - "I'll go for something softer".
Hellverine was amped, yes, but what else we've got? Dracula-controlled Wolverine did pierce the armor, even if he didn't exactly dice him in two. Post-upgrade Colossus himself believes claws can cut him to the bone.
So when he failed to cut him? The only instance of that happening is the beginning of the Hellverine fight and no-selling one strike doesn't necessarily mean he can no sell more attempts (as we all saw what happened after that), hence why I compared it to WWH, Cable or Exodus --- as the same shit happened there.
This moment comes to mind, too:
Some cuts shallow, others deep, some doing no real damage -- others, considerable.
