What's more likely that a writer uses different terminology with regarding his omega powers or that his omega force can erase you from his hands?
We have an on panel statement backing my case up. You have the same terminology used most likely by two different writers while your scan was another example of a blast from his eyes that would erase you rather than a scan of him using energy blasts from his hands to erase someone.

Pre Crisis Darkseid would have beaten them while still on Apokolips more likely than not.
He was written much more powerful then and you can't possibly deny that his power has seeped since the Crisis despite the fact that it shouldn't have. You see when power seeps without adequate explanation or an actual retcon its called Jobbing.
Things change and people have to move on. The crisis happened in 1985.
