SS hasn't done to well against Thanos.

In reality many think Thanos can beat SS because of their confrontations shown in comics. Surfer doesn't have to fight stupid you know. I believe Surfer can beat Thanos for a large majority. SS using his best ability can't be touched by Thanos. Surfer can amp to become strong enough to one-shot Thanos. Surfer has a good chance against DS here too. DS only chance here is to have the OE travel thru time and space where SS can't dodge.
