Okay, so Laxus finally showed up but he went down in only one chapter.
I was hoping that he would have, like, faster reflexes or anti-Hades magic. Something that nulled Hades' magical powers via his lightning.
That didn't happen.
However, I was still pleased with the alternative: Laxus did not feel worthy to take Hades down because he was not part of FairyTail. He wanted Natsu to do it because he felt Natsu was the best suited in power, ability, and determination; but most importantly, he felt that Natsu represented FairyTail the best. That's acceptable. I would have preferred Laxus kicking Hades' ass in one chapter and then declaring, "We are FairyTail!" while standing over his electrified body.

Yea, and I think it showed. Still, he's not Hades' level yet, adding his power onto someone else is a good call.
I agree.
He clearly admitted that he could not believe someone of that power still existed in the world. This indicates, to me, that he has advanced at a least to Makarov's level. We clearly saw him land hits so he's above Makarov's level, at this point. He did better than Makarov.
He obviously thought he had progressed to a level that was the greatest on earth but was humbled.
I like it that he quickly humbled himsself and gave all of his power away to Natsu realizing that Natsu offered the best chance.
