Seriously, do not expect series to suddenly change genre/patterns! You will only be disappointed, and if you expect things to go differently too regularly, I will question your pattern recognition skillz.
That said, just because Natsu is healed by Wendy, does not mean he'll *win*. And we did just have the Laxus thing, y'know?

I call bullshit right now!
But at this point I blame myself for continuing to fall for the hype that Hiro lays out for his series only to then replace it by the good guys winning in rather absurd ways or in this case, putting Natsu up against a guy that he would have the immediate advantage over.

What hype? I can't recall Hiro ever says that the baddies would win. He plays them up to emphasize, "this will be a tough conflict." And is often is! The guild looked like hamburger after Grimore Heart! Nor does he do fake-out deaths like Bleach does.
I mean, have you payed attention to what genre you're in? And are you sure you aren't just faking yourself out?
Here he's put Natsu up against a guy who Natsu'd have an advantage, and the guy already beat Natsu once, only there's a healer involved- a healer we already knew was there, mind you- to give him a second shot.
By hype I mean hype for Tartarus as these kickass demons that appear to rely more on hax abilities than actual power. Also the whole hostage thing is not clear to be just stalling for Natsu to come back and beat the crap out of Natsu.
And the thing is I wouldn't be so mad if it wasn't so...boring. Granted that Fairy Tail, despite everything Hiro has done, still hasn't made me rage quit like Kubo so that's a plus I guess.

I wouldn't say that- they seems *very* fast and strong too, at least on Natsu's level, it's just additionally they have powers that are hard to counter.
The first one wrecked the Thunder God Tribe, after all, and then used hax to put Laxus down and kill much of the town. The second one was fighting on even terms with Natsu, then his touch-bomb thing took Natsu down.

Anyway, I'm guess this is Hiro's way of telling the audience he's sorry for wasting everyone's time by bring Lisanna back and is correcting his mistake: Nah I'm just kidding but we do get to see another demon and we finally have some clue as to how the council is able to keep a continent fully of destructive wizards in check.
