That and
Spoiler:
instead of winning with her yoga pants mode(which has gotten stale), Erza mixed and matched her equipment. Water sword for offensive, wind armor/sword for defense. When she was caught she used a bright armor to signal her allies and her Nakagami armor, her strongest one so far, to deliver a final power hit at a crucial moment.
This is the most strategic it feels like she's been in years. Usually Erza is just flat out better.

Agreed on all points. That was good mix-up armor use. The last time she used a bunch in a fight was, I think, Azuma of Grimorie Heart.
Spoiler:
It's also interesting to contrast the effects of the Jupiter Cannon. Initially, it was enough to temporarily KO armor through her greatest defense. Now it hurts, but doesn't take down, a strong enemy caught by surprise by it.

She won the Azuma fight with outside help too...sort of.
Spoiler:
I would argue that this guy is more powerful than the version of Erza that survived the Jupiter Canon when it was fired. Maybe that had something to do with the resistance. Also nice to see minor characters supporting a major fight.

Yea, and earlier in the fight, she use a ton of armors in succession. Multi-sword, speed, light armor's beam etc..

Oh, definitely, much more so. Toughness comes with magic and all that.
