Batdude123 and TheKahn's Holiday Herald Tournament

Started by id36973 pages

My confusion stems the active match up. Pri-Crisis feats are being used.

I remember clear no.

Pr vouches, dependent on the character and feat which are met by the judges approval. (?)

Because I am not conferencing with Judges and members via PM. I do not know what is and isn't allowed.

Differ between Judges and Tourney hosts. The latter make the rules.

Potentially, but some pre-crisis stories are canon again.

Yeah but Kahn said that even a character like Barry Allen(who primarily appeared Pre-Crisis) would have to make do with Post Crisis feats. I'm pretty sure it was a flat "No" on PC feats, but I guess we'll have to wait for Kahn to clarify.

And Batdude.

They both make the rules.

Oh I know(no disrespect to bats intended), I just use Kahn as the default because he does the thread making.

Goober's team taken out of Tourney

Batdude and I usually try and discuss all the major issues between the two of us before any rules/decisions are made. However, with it being the holidays and the rush to make quick decisions sometimes we have slight miss-communications that crop up.

We are discussing the Pre-Crisis issue to make sure we're on the same page about this. Expect a clarification asap.

Also, since this issue has come up repeatedly let me clarify the summoning/construct rule:

Essentially, you can't create or summon anything that looks/acts like an additional independent fighter for your team. All animate constructs have to follow the same basic rules as a GL construct - the creators has to invest some amount of concentration/will for the construct to exist.

The same goes for summons. No adding additional creatures/other types of beings to your teams roster permanently. "Spirits" (that essentially act as magic spells) are allowed as long as they only exist long enough to preform a discrete task then disappear.

I hope that is clear enough. Please let me know if there are additional questions.

👆 That's all they really do.

didn't see that ruling posted anywhere. gracias.

You should be ashamed of yourself

Its all good anyways as Skuttlebutt wasn't a key player in our plan anyways

No Skuttlebutt and no Daxamites. Stormbreaker is obviously part of his standard equipment for a fight, while his ship is not and cannot be summoned to the fight. And the Daxamite constructs (a trick I believe have been used in a tourney before) also violate the letter and spirit of the rule.

You essentially can't add additional characters/fighters to your roster and any additional tech has to be of your own immediate creation (& follow its own set of rules). The matches are intended to remain 3 vs 3, so please keep that in mind when thinking up tactics.

🙁
I apologize to both teams for not making the construct/summons rule clearer before their fight began. We are trying to deal with problems like this as they come up but sometimes we're not as clear as we should be at the beginning or someone misses an announcement or has a different interpretation of them. Please, just be patient with us as we work all the kinks out and get everyone on the same page.

are the other matches starting tomorrow?

Its all good, guess were the trial run but I hope the judges dont think we cheated or anything as that clearly wasn't our plan and shouldn't be hindered because of it.

good question

Matches are starting as soon as both teams submit their initial post to Batdude and myself. Hopefully we can get them all started tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.

Given the long list of rules we have to put in place for a herald tournament to keep things fair, I think its perfectly understandable if a team accidentally crosses one of them.

I think both teams just made an honest mistake that anyone going first might have, and as a judge it is not something I'd hold against either. 🙂

wait wut?

the daxamites that were independent (ish) are not exactly what were are making, ours are being concentrated on by the war faced kyle.....

skuttlebutt is a huge ship that is not portable on bill's person, nor is it dependent on bill to "live" like the constructs are.

not sure what the confusion is here.

To clarify. Those are not akin to Oblivion etc. Those scans just were there to prove Kyle can make constructs with superpowers.

Actually the constructs are akin to the body dupe Kyle created there- he looks and acts as if he was independent (enough to fool Kyle's enemy), but has no will of his own apart from Kyle's will.
I shouldn't have used the Oblivion scans in terms of making constructs.

Kyle Rayner vs. Sarkus, a god of the planet Galtea- also created a construct of himself which made Sarkus think he was fighting the real one

He talks, he fights, he flies, he dies, he is all green then hes not all green and there was no energy trail to see erm seeing as these Daxamites are in the greatest sense of the word still constructs they too can be made...

They're still constructs and WILL disappear if Kyle's will\control is broken. When thinking what we're making, think that dupe and not Oblivion and crew in terms of independence. Think the puppet theatre, the puppet type constructs with the will of their own are SURELY allowed.
