What? You do understand that the lighting that CM calls upon is actually a spell indisguice?

He might be able to control weather, but he ain't controlling CM's Spell.

Why wouldn't he? Other beings have manipulated the lightning before, both in positive and negative ways. The lightning is the fuel which triggers his transformation and has been shown not to be all powerful. Lightning is lightning regardless of the source. I can agree that it wouldn't be likely for Thor to conviently channel a bolt of lightning to CM transforming him into Billy (though I wouldn't put it completely past Thor to be capable of this), but to argue that Thor cannot divert the lightning from its path or even absorb it into Mjolnir itself seems short sighted.

Now, *that* I can agree with. If for whatever reason Billy/CM was saying "Shazam", and the boom came, it is not at all inconceivable that Thor (via Mjolner), could manipulate, deflect, absorb, what-have-you, the lightning/magic of the effect; I don't, however, see that as being an issue in a typical forum-fight -- it would be more of a plot point in a cross-over story, having more to do with the story at hand than any combat applications involved, as such.

True. There would be no reason for CM to shout "Shazam" in the first place against Thor, so it would be a huge mistake if he did. And while CM is highly durable against magic, yes, so is Thor. And both combatants have more to work with than just magic. But while Captain Marvel is limited to just blunt force, Thor's versatility and skill factor puts him over the Big Red Cheese.
