Voting is a easy mechanism to let the majority oppress the minority. In many ways it has its merits, of course, but it is not generally, beyond a doubt good.

Politicians do not win because they are more qualified or better for the job. They win based on how well they can sway the opinions of the ignorant masses. The better you are at spewing bullshit and fallacies, the better your chances at getting the majority to vote for you.
Voting is the voice of ignorance, not reasoned and informed opinion. There is nothing sacred about the "public" considering how easy it is misinform the public.
I myself don't even have an opinion on healthcare so much as I despise the system I am forced to live under.
