You obviously don't know much about lotteries. Follow the money and you'll see it never goes to good causes. While it's supposed to go for education, healthcare, the elderly, etc it almost always goes into a general spending account where state legislators can use it in any way they see fit and that usually means pork projects.

I took your Pepsi challenge and I followed the money, in California, .34cents out of every Lotto/Lottery dollar taken in goes into the school system, to pay teacher salaries, buy books etc. That isn't too bad, 1/3rd

Is that where it is SUPPOSED to go or where it actually does go and if true where does the rest of it go? What about the other states?

I looked it up, if you want to get into some conspiracy where the schools aren't really getting the 1/3rd, but instead a bunch of shady politicians are taking it hand-over-fist, go ahead, just back it up with some facts. But as the point relates to what DarthJello said, it stands.
Not sure where the other 2/3rd go.
No idea about other states, just looked up California, because I live there. I suspect they're probably similar, 1/3 going to schools. Which is about 1.1 billion each year for California; that's not too shabby, considering it comes from gambling.

The article says he "suggested" people spend their money more sensibly. In tough economic times, a president who's advising the people to not blow money away should be lauded not criticized. I can understand why the gambling business itself would be upset, but personally, I care more about the welfare of the family than the welfare of the casino. Now if Obama was ordering people on the other hand...
Vegas blows. With all the surveillence technology and ex-cons watching the tables you can't even rip the joints off anymore. Casinos are screwjobs to begin with, and then its illegal to screw an already crooked establishment. But the wetback Hondurans who line the Strip and hand out hooker flyers make me laugh.

....let a state fail? Are you serious? I never said the gambling "sector" was failing. I said the state.

This country would have a better chance of economic survival if it bet the entire budget on black at the roulette table then we do with Obama running things.
"Don't waste money in Vegas!"
How about not spending billions of dollars you don't have Barry you shithead.

Obama has no direct control of the economy he is just being sensible, you dont take your child's milk money and buy cigarettes when you are in a financial grunge.
who cares about nevada though?
ppl just want to blame someone other then themselves this is an industry where ppl feel comfortable taking your money and getting you drunk to facilitate the matter.
Ppl instead of staying in a company where they may be sh@$ canned need to start looking for other jobs and prepare other then being shocked when they are fired or the company collapses.
