STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Chains

Started by REXXXX81 pages

You narrowly clear out just before Nelgrin's hammer comes down, completely destroying the console behind you as you flip over it. You take 5 damage, as does Vlad.

Whereas your turn is consumed by your Leap, Vlad manages to land a hit on Nelgrin before retreating. Five successes translates to 9 damage as Vlad's saber skitters off of Nelgrin's dense armor plating.

Nelgrin (C11): 3(4A)/9 [DU FB WS] [PA AS]

Hanza: 0

----

Swap out Block for BG, BG on Vlad, Focused guard on Hanza and attack Nelgrin.

Wentar is not surprised when things quickly turn violent again. The was the inevitable outcome when dealing with Hanza after all.

Initiative is theirs!

Nelgrin comes in swinging again! He rolls a 5 and three 6s, triggering Focussed Blow so that when the kinetic wave emits from his war hammer, you and Vlad are Stunned by the impact (this halves your dice pool).

Hanza shoots... Vlad. You interpose your blade to deflect some of the blasts, and Vlad catches the rest. He takes 3 damage from Hanza's volley thanks to your teamwork.

And then you tag-team the great whale! Wentar aims a precise strike at Nelgrin's front while Vlad goes flipping over the monster to attack its flank. You roll one success; your lightsaber draws a white-hot scratch on Nelgrin's dense armor for 5 damage. Vlad, on the other hand, rolls five successes and cleaves off part of the pirate's armor for another 9 damage.

Nelgrin (C11): 3(4A)/23 [DU FB WS] [PA AS]

Hanza: 0

----

Wentar will move to Nelgrin's right, hoping Vlad will move to his left so he can't hit us both.

Another attack on Nelgrin, Focused guard still on Hanza, BG still on Vlad.

Refresh turn! And initiative is theirs.

Nelgrin performs a whirling blow with his hammer to keep you both away, inflicting 4 damage to Vlad and 6 to you and tapping Whirling Strike so that you can't touch him this turn.

As long as you are by Nelgrin, he can hit you both.

Hanza shoots Wentar this time. You take 8 damage as you struggle to deflect his rapid shots.

PRISON BREAK, Start of Turn 8

Control area

Wentar (LS9): 3/46 [FcGu RF BG] [OGu BL] (5F)

Vlad (L10): 1(2A)/32 [BGu CH PS] [CL CC ES] (6F)

Nelgrin (C9): 3(4A)/23 [DU FB WS] [PA AS]

Hanza: 0

----

Right, well that sucks.

Tap focussed guard, focusing on Nelgrin this time. Refresh Block and swap it in for Reflection, +1 Defense from Block. BG on Vlad

Wentar will make another attack at Nelgrin, trying to drive him near the consoles where his size may hinder him.

Wentar must have sensed trouble coming! The bad guys get initiative again, but since Wentar has focussed on Nelgrin as the worst of the two and tapped his Guard, Nelgrin's Power Attack tap misses entirely! You then thrust at Nelgrin, for 6 damage.

Hanza targets Vlad, but the chaos of the fight throws off his shooting. 4 damage. Vlad proceeds to leap over Nelgrin and land beside Hanza, performing a swipe over the criminal's head. Hanza throws himself backwards and avoids a wonderful decapitation, still taking 11 damage.

PRISON BREAK, Start of Turn 9

Control area

Wentar (LS9): 2/46 [FcGu BL BG] [OGu BL] (5F)

Nelgrin (C9): 3(4A)/29 [DU FB PA] [WS AS]

Hanza: 11

Vlad (L10): 1(2A)/36 [BGu CH PS] [CL CC ES] (6F)

----

Heh, close call.

Wentar decides to return the favor of brutality and attacks with a vicious swing.

Swap out Focused Guard for Orthodox guard and tap Block, attack Nelgrin.

Initiative to the enemy again!

In a surprise move, Hanza does something unexpected- he tosses aside his gun and launches himself at Vlad with a powerful kick! Both booted feet plant firmly on Vlad's chest and knock him down for 11 damage. Hanza then grapples with Vlad, putting a knee on his chest and trying to pull away his sabers. He takes 7 damage in the struggle.

Wentar's lightsaber and Nelgrin's war hammer meet! The kinetic fielding on the hammer prevent you from destroying it outright and you can feel the resistance as you try to force your blade past. Eventually, Nelgrin's strength gets the better of you and a wave of energy is released, knocking you down. He rolls six 6s with an Assault tap, Stunning you once again. As such, your retaliation is not so great as you had intended- you have 5 dice and show four successes, at least, for 8 damage! Another glancing blow on Nelgrin's armor.

Vlad (L10): 1(2A)/47 [BGu CH PS] [CL CC ES] (6F)

Damn, erm...

If they get initiative, Defensive Leap.

If we get initiative attack!

Either way, swap out Block.

For a second time your blade clashes against the hammer's field, creating a contest of strength. You roll two successes and manage to touch the tip of your lightsaber against the hammer's head in a crackle of sparks... but then Nelgrin twists the hammer downward and smashes it at your feet. The impact sends the shockwave under and up at you, flinging you into the ceiling for 5 damage.

As you come back down, he catches you with the hammer and throws you into a far wall. You are down and out of the fight.

Vlad has pushed Hanza off of him but goes slackjawed when the smuggler smacks him across the face with a backhand for 6 damage. He raises his sword to saber Hanza back, but notices Nelgrin stomp toward him and grits his jaw.

Damnit! Wentar is a bad planner and bad fighter. 😛

-

Wentar merely mutters. "I've failed..." Watching Hanza and Nelgrin close in on Vlad as his vision fades.

You are certain that something is broken.

Instead of going for Hanza, Vlad goes for Nelgrin. He flips through the air, lightsabers whirring, as he launches a Flurry on the enormous thug. This actually gets through to Nelgrin, who frantically deflects blows with his hammer until one gets through and carves through Nelgrin's leg for 22 damage.

Vlad raises his swords to strike the beast again when Hanza gets him cold at gunpoint.

"Drop the swords," Hanza sneers. Vlad makes no move to do so, instead aiming a jab at Hanza, before taking a pair of bolts in the shoulder. Vlad goes down, and Nelgrin begins knocking him around with the hammer.

Hanza walks over to you, smiling.

"This seems familiar."

"Gloat all you want Hanza," Wentar says bitterly. "I don't care."

Hanza laughs.

"So stoic," Hanza says. "How admirable."

"Your arrogance will one day be your undoing, Hanza," Wentar says, staring him in the eye.

"I've heard THAT before," Hanza says. He bends down and plucks your lightsaber off the ground, twirling the hilt around in his hand. "Get him out of here."

The thugs that Hanza brought with him step in and roughly pick you up, dragging you into the lift. They do the same with Vlad, who is an awful mess.

"Wentar..." Vlad sputters, half-conscious.

"Still here Vlad," Wentar mutters loud enough for Vlad to hear.

Vlad tries to speak again but the strain is too much and he blacks out.

You hardly remember the ride up the lift and into the Market. There is a blur of onlookers gawking at you as the thugs drag you along.

Wentar barely looks at them, his mind drifting.

Had he failed? He wasn't about to give up at this point but things had just reached their bleakest. Hanza was probably now working out when to have them killed.

What about Emso? What would he be thinking when we don't show up on time?

There was one possible upside here. He may just find Altar, the three of them working together may be able to escape.
