USH'S STAR WARS GAME- CAMPAIGN II EPISODE V (LIGHT SIDE)- Harmony

Oh well. We know what we are getting into. We just need to win if we decide to go.

And splitting the group would be an awful idea.

Unfortunately I'm sure the council will frown on us on the coup idea.

However it's things like this that made Wentar stand against the council, a person like Aquila, seduced by the Dark Side, should not be left in charge of a planet. Wentar would always have some nagging guilt if he didn't see this through to the end. Yes we have done a lot for Thea, but I feel we should go this extra mile.

However that nagging 'if' does have me worried...

After talking to Ush, and stuff.
Some additional things.
Aquila IS using the Dark Side. We've seen it, she tapped into her emotions when attacking us in the train station.
Also she attacked us, unprovoked when we were landing on the planet.

It also really useful if we ever have to come back to Thalos to know someone who likes us...

So morality and prudence converge, and we should help out.

Ok, any dissenters?

Jelena is all for it. Aquila declared war on us when we only came looking to investigate a separate threat. She needs to be dealt with.

Vera-Kin is all about fighting the Dark Side where it dwells. She is more than happy to help take out the Consul and support Thea.

I understand the Jedi have an obligation to fight the Dark Side, but the witches of *** (forgot the planet) and other things kinda make it a bit unclear. I mean: the Jedi never made war against them, or am I mistaken?

We only take on the coup because she's a dark side user and star wars is all about "dark is bad, there is no grey".

Perhaps we have to go, get the important message and signal the Council we have to keep an eye on this planet? I mea, they're not really expansionist, right? So perhaps this has less priority?

Are you thinking of the Witches of Dathomir?

I think the idea is that we might have something to gain from a friendship with a Thalos ruled by Consul Thea. I mean, there is still a lot that you guys could uncover in the library if you were able to go back under different pretenses, right?

Or not. I'm not sure.

Xeth is confused as to why they would repair our ships, though.

Thea can answer that- Aquila will want to analyse any threat your ships might provide. They'll also be interrogating the systems.

I should remind you guys that the Jedi certainly do not have an obligation to fight the Dark Side, which is such a rare thing for them to confront directly anyway. The Dark Side is merely a personification of the force of evil in the galaxy and the Jedi see that all over the place; they could go knock over the Hutts if they wanted to go crusading against evil all the time. They don't do it as it wouldn't be legal and once they cross that line then the whole point of the Order is lost- and also because taking out the Hutts is the easy part; it wouldn't necessarily improve the lives of those in Hutt space.

Jedi have a responsibility to defend the people. That's their job- to promote peace, justice and harmony and, in a mission such as this, you are acting as emissaries from the Republic.

These are not Republican citizens but you are empowered to make the call about whether you feel they should be protected from Aquila, weighing up the risks involved in such an intervention and whether it is worth it.

If you are worried about knocking over a democratic regime, then remember that Aquila was not elected by the people; she took power within the Ladies who rule. Not that Thea would be elected either but you are pretty sure she would improve things.

As mentioned, Gallagher's reasons are a little more personal.

Ah, well, you have to be damn careful then! That could be construed as Fear.

Would you be keen to stop Aquilla if she was just an evil politician rather than a user of the Dark Side? What would the quantifiable difference be?

Xeth would. Dark Side or not, she's a corrupt politician in a position of great power. He doesn't like that whether we're in the Republic or not.

I suppose you could cast the same question about Sienar. The answer is yes. Gallagher would want to remove someone from power if they were abusing their position.

The Republic is full of hundreds of corrupt politicians, Xeth!

And you have to ask yourself Gallagher- if it is as a result of Sienar, are you doing it just because you are afraid of failing again?

No, Gallagher is not afraid of failure here. Perhaps more as a chance at redemption for himself? He was unable to stop the fruition of Sienar's scheming, but he has an opportunity to help stop the tyranny of another follower of the Dark Side.

And if Xeth could legally and lawfully bring them all down, he would!

Maybe restrict my comment to evil rather than corrupt politicians. If Xeth saw a politician acting in the way Aquila is, he would want to help remove them any way he could.

Wentar has been through the corrupted politician bit, that's one of the reasons why he left the Order.

But a corrupted politician is one thing. Aquila has the whole planet under her thumb.

Sorry, Gallagher, but that's still personal! If it's personal, it comes down to fear. You seem to be doing it for yourself.

The Council will accept many things, but if they feel any of you did this for personal reasons you will be Censured. That's the worst of all possible justifications. Once Jedi start making major decisions for personal reasons, where will it ever end?

-

Xeth- what you are proposing now is not legal or lawful.

Aquila has the whole planet under her thumb.

Again, applies to plenty of Republican worlds!

The thing is if we tried such an act within the Republic it would harm the Republic more then it would help. Here however, if we do this right, there will be more good done to this world then harm under Aquila's corrupt rule.
