"Quite so. She must be particularly fanatical- as you know, Kuylen was no scoffer of Sith things, and he was willing to believe where others were not. But this was too much for him. Despite his father."

"Huh?" Xeth asks.

"What about his father?" Jelena asks, interested at the opportunity to learn more about Kuylen's background as she neglected to do on Cassilis.

"His father. Geron. The previous Voivode of Antanon? Oh, I thought you knew- he was a Sith Conspiracy theorist. There's been this occasional undercurrent of fascination with the Sith in Tasker's Crown. Well, they share a lot of history in places the Charnals value..."

"I was unaware," Jelena states. "Did Geron Kuylen believe in the Syphar N Kalar?"

Anaz Kuylen is the current Voivode, right?

Yup.

"Most certainly! It was one of his fascinations- one of many. They do say that whilst Geron went through the legal requirements with his older son- he had to have him declared legally dead- his heart was never really in it. He still felt for his son, and the more Kuylen worked at being a Jedi, the more Geron seemed to become obsessed with the history of the Sith."

"I never did discover this, but why did Geron have to declare Larios dead?" Jelena asks. "And I don't understand the correlation. One would think he would become more passionate about his son's career, rather than about his son's ancient foes."

In the mean time, Vera-Kin will be heading the pain-staking effort to catalog every piece of imprinted tape in the vault so that we can get an idea of what it might have been.

"It's the only way if a Charnalian noble becomes a Jedi," says Ascar. "They are legally debarred from becoming a Jedi due to feudal loyalties; they were always culturally edgy with the Jedi. Declaring them dead is a legal workaround."

"The first time Kuylen 'died,' then," Jelena says. "That must have been tragic for Geron."

"I wouldn't worry much," says Ascar. "Stoic people, the Charnals. As for his behaviour... well. Geron was losing it by the end, really."

"How so?"

I guess we are going to Taskers Crown at some point then.
The darkies will be so jealous!

"Oh, he became obsessed with the Syphar n Kalar. So much so that he sent his family servant out into the galaxy to gather every single rumour and vague trace about it- a compendium of fringe nonsense. Now, this was no butler; a Charnalian family servant is the Lord's right hand man, there to serve or kill as needed. Very dangerous and dependable. This one spent years gathering all there is to be known about the Syphar n Kalar. Talented fellow- his name is Briande."

"Perhaps consulting with Briande will help us know where Adelmo might be making her next moves," Jelena says. "Even if there is nothing to be found, she certainly knows more about this than we do."

"I would not say it would be entirely impossible that Larios Kuylen met up with Briande after leaving the Jedi Order," Xeth says. "Or possibly even before."

"Does anyone know what Briande discovered?"

"No idea" says Ascar. "Still, the young lady is right. If your target is delusional enough to look for this thing, then Briande likely knows the sorts of places she will look. In fact, if she has done her research, she almost certainly will want to find Briande herself."

"It is most fortunate, then, that I made the acquaintance of the current Voivode," Jelena says with a smile. "Assuming that Briande is willing to cooperate with us."

Now that we have the time we might perhaps be able to contact the Jedi Library to get all the info we can get about Briande, the planet, the artifact linked to the person/world, ...
