Not so far as Zeiton was so that fuel was an issue, but about as far out as you could go without that issue. Indeed, there had better be some fuel there- you'll burn up what you have getting there.

Also the fuel thing worries me. Is there any way to take more fuel with us so that if it is some abandoned planet or something that doesn't have fuel we can still make it back?

You're already outside the Republic. Even just inside, it's not easy to get bulk loads of fuel on Republic credits.

We should make sure that we can contact someone when we get stuck on the planet. We can't use the force or much else to get off a planet if we don't have fuel or there aren't any locals that have mastered interstellar spacefaring

He'll tell them where you are- but don't expect any help. The Republic simply is not that organised. You are all that will be sent.

I don't think that asking Ascar for help will result in help actually ever showing up...
