And if we are not subtle? We can land directly there?

I understand that if we attack quickly, we will face Rivas's guard, but he does not keep thousands of his soldiers in the palace.

No, but if you land aggressively next to the palace- assuming you've taken on his air defences- then more and more of his army will swarm in there, and there are certainly thousands in the city.

Taking on the air defenses is not something we want to do. We've got a handful of half-assed pilots against a hardened pirate force.

Won`t they swarm as well if we attack the Palace?

Yes.

I'd rather we make it there on foot and then get picked up after for a quick exit.

I agree. We just need to kill Rivas and escape before we are comletely surrounded.

Okay, his Palace is inside the city, so we can reasonably get close without fighting our way through his military?

Depends on how you act!

So let's stay innocuous and ordinary. Disguise ourselves as peasants and beggars and tax-payers and just make our way through the city as needed until we can get to the Palace.

I agree.

I am also confident that average guards could fall fictim to force mind tricks. Gallador, Rand or Edana could convince them they are supposed to get inside to see the Emperor, right? Then go for our sabres.

I agree with this. If those of us with Intrusion can somehow sneak our way into the Palace while the rest talk their way in, we can get into position at multiple points to launch our attack. We don't want to divide the group too much.

I believe the throne room was described as having a glass dome. I would not be against shattering this and jumping down into the throne room when the move is made on our sabers.

I think you slightly misunderstand the idea Josh and I were bouncing off each other - no one would be talking their way in. Those with Intrusion would sneak in and attack the guards inside at the same time everyone outside breaks their way in (at least some through the dome if possible, for added flashiness and drama) and attacks.

We want it to be fast and unexpected. People talking their way in will possibly draw attention to us which we don't want.

How about we kill Rivas, let us be captured, go to Datura, and break out again? Things went smooth last time!

You're on your own for that one, I think.

"And thus, Con passed out of all memory... luckily for him, as he was an idiot."

C'mon guys, together we can do everything! SUPERFRIENDS POWER HUG!!!

Would we have to start fighting our way into the Palace through more than we want to fight through though? Not that it should be a problem, with the small army we're assembling here.

I think if you start fighting outside the palace your difficulties involved are rocketing.

So we do need to get in first. Meaning talk or sneak. And plus whatever defenses the Palace would have for keeping us out.

So that puts together kind of a decent plan for getting there. Make our way through the streets like normal people, draw no attention to ourselves, push a little if needed. Then when we get to the Palace, some of us can sneak in, the rest can talk their way through. If we stay disguised it shouldn't be a problem.

I had an idea for pretending to be emissaries wanting to pay tribute to the Emperor. Might be a little more complicated than needed. It'd be fun to reveal that we're emissaries from Datura...

I can't imagine it will be easy to sneak in all of our fun toys and allies though. We're all going to be carrying hardware (for the most part).

I think we should avoid splitting up as much as possible.

I figured that was why we wanted at least some up on the roof, ready to shatter the dome. Those that can't sneak or talk in, attack from above.
