Here's teh dealz; Dark Link can backflip onto a thrust by Link, which would take less time for Link to make than a 90 degree hack.

Shrink the size of the slash, and you also shrink the time it takes to make it. Link can thrust with his sword in around 0.02, and Dark Link can *do a backflip and land on top of it*, because he's just that ignorantly cool.

tl;dr: Dark Link is very, very fast.

All makes sense... 'cept the speed of the thrust is not that of the spin. The spin was very fast, that poke was normal. Nevertheless Dark Link is agile, is fast but not that fast.
