The Blast Mask protects the face. The evidence for this is seen when Link recieves no damage when holding up his shield.

That's a botched gameplay mechanic, and you know it, it wasn't intended. How does holding a shield infront of the mask protect you? It doesn't.

that's lulzy cause LoZ bombs can absolutely destroy a giant hunk of rock or a stone wall with ease, while a modern hand grenade wouldn't even come close.

depends on the type of grenade. anti-personnel are made deliberately weak enough to not cause extensive damage to anything not made of flesh.

If LoZ bombs can hurt him then a grenade will. And a rocker launcher, depending on what zombie boy's got, will do alot more then the grenade.
