Well, the color corrections in all three films are not to be considered 'quite small' ... they're a dramatic change from the original look, from the original movie history making films.

I know that and they screwed it up anyway. But all I ment from that statement was the adjustment to add some ships or fix a cockpit.

Well, I think the changing of the look (and I don't mean the two oddly colored lightsabres) is a major change. It's like making a color version of Citizen Kane and pretend that's the ultimate version and claim we can never see the orginal B&W again. 'Because it doesn't mesh with my vision...'

Hmmm ok then
So you would just want the originals with just a restored picture?
And we would probably end up seeing all the imperfections due to the better picture. It happens all the time with movies they release in hd or bluray where they dont retouch the effects.

Every movie has imperfections. Even the last DVD with the pink lightsabres.

And what I want is simple: I want ALL versions. I just don't understand why it's such a big deal to release the original theatricals in the best form ever.

Sure they can be touched up... They already did BTW... They took out a lot of matte lines when they released the last digitally remastered version of the theatrical OT on VHS.

They fixed up Superman's green suit in Superman the Movie when he flies to the Dam, and made it blue - for the first time in history! They restored The Godfather and retouched, cleaned fixed specks etc. They have a beautifully restored version on BD of The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind... There's a digital clean up of Citizen Kane... All of them have imperfections, sometimes you see things you weren't supposed to see. So what? These movies are part of history. Why can't we see the SW movie that became the biggest box office hits since GWTW nearly 40 years before?!

But what's out now is a radical departure from the original films. Especially ANH. They keep changing it, adding scenes, totally recutting sequences, giving it a totally new look etc etc... That's something different than restoring it.

True, and they would be wise to include it in the bluray but if they made no changes to any of the effects including the lightsabera in ANH would you be happy?

Geoge Lucus does not want to spend money on restoring the OT 😠

Yes we know that.... *sigh* we were just discussing why that was so.

Hey, they can fix anything that doesn't look as it SHOULD have at the time. Removing the matte lines from the Snowspeeders was a good move.

The last release of the OT on VHS was digitally restored. It fixed a lot of the glitches. I mean, that's fine. Why not fix a special effect if you couldn't get it right the first time (like the Superman suit)? But these are serious alterations.

Even if he does fix everything he will add more changes and fans will complain. Every Time the OT comes out it is restored like you never seen it before but with changes. Look at the SE VHS then the 04 DVD and now on Blu ray !!!

2017 SEE THE STAR WARS SAGA IN 3D IN YOUR OWN HOME !!!

GET THE PICTURE ??

I get it... doesn't mean I have to like it.

If George Lucus dies what will happen to star wars ??

I for one am not going to buy into the 3d tv! Only if it looks like a hologram in your living room, I may consider it.

And if and when Lucas goes star wars will probably never ne touched again. But he may leave his legacy to his kids and maybe they will do something too.

Ask Abrams to remake it. 😛

I'm not hot for 3D myself. Just saw Tron... not much real 3D there.

There only good movie when it comes to 3D I've seen so far is Avatar. Cameron sure knows how to film FOR 3D... not just film it with 3D camera's.

I really enjoyed tron in 3D and felt it was a better 3D experience than avatar. But visually with the colors etc. Avatar was better but the avatar story was still crap

Lucus saw AVATAR and said ohh lets make star wars in 3D !! Does he even know how to use a 3D camera ?? lollz 😆

Uh no... He was planning this before avatar came out. It just that now with avatar the tech is there to convert star wars to 3d and do it well. And as for people thinking it's a cash cow by Lucas, remember this, that if he was simply rereleasing the films back in theater NOT in 3d we would still be going to see them.

True, he's been workng on this for years. Why this, just like the DVD and blu ray releases, take so incredibly long, I have no idea.

Avatar was shot better to suit 3D. Tron (just like Alice in Wonderland) were shot for 2D. One can see that best in their use of depth of field. Avatar has a lot of depth of field, which means everything is in focus, even the background. 3D creates the depth.
Using little depth of field, like on Alice and even Tron, already creates a 3D effect in 2D. Making them real 3D doesn't really add much to these shots.

Now, I can forgive Alice, since that was shot for 2D. But Tron was almost completely created in CGI. The depth of field is something one creates in the computers. Onlike Alice, where it was created by the use of lenses. You can't alter that too much afterwards.

Has anyone seen this before ??

Hey it's online!

I still have the VHS of that one... plus a DVD rip.

I bought my 320 GB Play Station 3 player last week; now I'm ready for Star Wars in Blu-ray if I want it. I didn't rush for the DVDs in 2004 because I had the Special Edition laserdiscs - but getting an HDTV changed things (even so, I bought the DVDs used because the laserdiscs cost me so much.)
