I like how Sub Zero 2 managed to get revenge for his brother against Scorpz. I never understood the ragin' hardon on they had for Scorpz. They toned it down quite a notch. Didn't like him being Quanchi's lapdog like that but I guess he was always manipulated like that.
Story mode is so great.

I don't like his character, and I do find his shrieks annoying, but his moves are far from useless.He's fast, he has a pretty good combo ender (Bicycle Kick...though I think it is useless outside of ending combos due to how unsafe it is on block). His flying kick is fairly decent, and has insane range. He also has Air, High & Low projectiles that are fast.
The prick can also near-infinitely bounce someone thanks to his Fierce Tiger Combo. Most other ground-bounce type moves slam the opponent down to ground after the first ground bounce (eg. Scorpion's Blade Overhead attack used twice, even in a combo). Mileena gets two bounces with her forward Back Kick command, but then it gives a ground slam if she uses it a third time.
Liu Kang can get as many as 3-4 ground bounces with FT (said combo being used in a row, mind you) and then finish off with another combo into Bicycle Kick. Ridiculous and simple.
Then he has another combo (Final Lotus) that knocks his opponent back, but because he can forward dash after the combo (buffer during), he can pull off FL around 3 times in a row. Both combos also seem to be safe on block.
With just those two combos, he also gets a decent mixup game.AND his X-ray move allows you to juggle the opponent after it ends. Yeah. Kung Lao's the only other person who can do that afaik, but I can only pull off the forward roll attack into his vertical spin.
So yeah, Liu's far from suckish from a gameplay perspective. He does have suckish fatalities though. Kano has a far more badass heart punch fatality, and while transforming into a dragon is cool, all he does is chomp on the opponent. Laem.
That said, I can't believe I'm defending him. Oh well, I take solace in the fact that I'm defending him from a gameplay perspective.
I must admit I found him much more bearable this time around, the bicycle kick as proven useful, and he's got a good combo.
I have used him far more than any character so far... mostly cuz I wanted to do a babality on every character and his is the easiest (that I know of) and he's got great range
I still hate the character though

You can also point to the fight where he lost to Kabal, too. That's the problem with trying to nail tiers down for MK characters, at least in regards to the story mode.

I like those three as well as far as gameplay goes, in addition to Sonya, Smoke, and Kitana. Liu's there as well I think.
Check out the stage selection screen in Training mode. The ones with Stage Fatalities will have a skull under their picture.

Way too hard to do this. Character victories are all over the place. Scorpion beats Nightwolf, who near-stalemates powered up Sindel, who pwns everyone else in Raiden's defenders, including Cyber Sub-Zero, who beat Scorpion as regular Sub-Zero.

The thing is that he's a top dog as far as Kombat goes. He doesn't hold a candle to guys like Shao Kahn, Raiden & even perhaps Shang Tsung/Quan Chi, when it comes to overall power.
Also, if Johnny's Bio and Arcade Ending are any indicator, he's going to become a top dog as well in the near future.
Talking about top tiers... what about Motaro? 😆

About facing Smoke, Does he always show up behind the same tree? and only once? there's like 4 front trees, and I haven't been able to see him.
From the looks of it:
1) Raiden proved himself to be stronger than Liu Kang so I guess that means that he's the strongest right now.
2) Liu Kang is pretty much the strongest human around. He beat pretty much every single one of them...and then went on to whoop Shang Tsung and even Shao Kahn. so I'm guessing he's the second strongest character out there. second because he was TOASTY-ed by Raiden.
3) I think Shao Kahn takes no.3
4) Sindel is definitely up there given how she smacked around ALL the good guy on her own. I'm thinking a tier below Shao Kahn perhaps. but then...
Nightwolf managed to finally defeat Sindel through a double-whammy, so I'm guessing after Liu Kang, he's the strongest mortal around.
Kung Lao is probably at the same tier as Nightwolf given that he pretty much beat Kintaro and Goro on his own. In fact he beat Goro twice.
but then he lost to Scorpion. Scorpion also beat Nightwolf.
but Scorpion lost to Subzero2 who was around when Sindel shitstomped everyone. I'm guessing after Shao Kahn its a toss-up between Scorpion, Subzero2, Nightwolf, Sindel and Kung Lao
