How does Comic Versions of Neg and Gov compare?

All I can recall of Comic Gov was he got his arm chopped off and recouped from that in like 15 min.

Unquestionably.

In the comics, the Governor is a sadist, pedophile, incestuous, rapist, psychopath. He's also a mediocre tactician and a sub-par leader, at best. Not only is he completely unlikable, but you can't even respect him as a character.

Negan, on the other hand, kills when needed--a fact he demonstrated by bludgeoning

Spoiler:
Glenn
(among others) to death. However, his killing tends to be more methodical--he only tries to kill others when he needs to prove a point or whathaveyou. He's also a rather brilliant leader/tactician--his followers were completely devoted to him, and lived to serve his every whim. He was such a gifted leader, in fact, that Rick STILL seeks advice from him... But aside from all of that, he's got a twisted sense of humor which makes him funny as f*ck. 👆

Anyway, I have no doubt that Jeffrey Dean Morgan will portray him excellently(his performance as The Comedian makes me very confident of this.) I honestly can't wait. droolio

👆 Sounds about right.

This, beyond most other things, has me excited for this guy coming. Morgan is a great actor and a solid casting choice for this.

Yeah I was stoked about that casting choice.

And yeah I agree with your assessment of Negan. I consider everything he has done brilliant in the comics. He came off as crazy but everything he did in the comics was a brilliant when you think about it from a control standpoint.

He organized a merit based heirachy so that the better you performed the more points he gives. It gives people in his organization a reason to perform and want to stay under his control.

He also very clearly lays out law before hand so that when people break those laws it clearly becomes his fault.

It was amazing to see how he ran his organization unfold.

for the first time ever, a comic spoiler actually had a negative effect on me. When Carl lost his eye it had absolutely no emotional impact on me 'cause i knew it was coming. That's never happened with GoT or this show with other characters who i knew were gonna die.

That scene would have been better had i not known it was gonna happen.

^ Well I had no idea that was coming. Was the 4th shock in a row. And for a second I thought it was because Zombies had bitten into him.

You're lucky. I envy you for not knowing it was coming.

As is blatantly evident by now: the comics are only used as a loose framework from which the show builds. So even though reading the comics has given me a rough idea of what might happen in the show, it's all subject to change... Which is cool. I like when the show surprises me in a good way. 👆

This is actually hands down my favourite show. But that's the reason I don't post here much, because I like watching the show not having a clue where they're going with it.

I only know about Glyn getting beaten to death by Negan because I looked up if he was dead in the comics after I was "certain" they already killed him on the show.

It still don't understand how he survived a shot to the head...

Great episode. It finally set up our Crew vs Negan conflict, and it made Neegan sound pretty terrifying. Starting off by making a point to the Hilltop community by beating a 16 year old to death? F*cked. I was kind of loling at how nonchalant the crew was being about it all. "Ya we'll wipe out negan and his crew, no problem." If they only knew what they were messing with, they wouldn't be taking him so lightly.

Maggies quote stood out too. "It's going to cost us." Glen is screwed.

They were just as casual about initially confronting Negan in the comics as well. At this point in the story they *think* they've seen the worst... But they have no idea what 'bad' really is.

They will, though. 👆

I also lol'd at Rick's reaction after he Rick'd that guy at Hilltop...

😂

Yeah by that time Rick was thinking they were the baddest things walking the Earth.

All I could think of was that Rick can not go anywhere without getting covered in blood at some point

I wonder if they're going to get someone captured ala Woodbury, or they successfully get out and begin their conflict with Negan. Also Abraham was acting like a complete idiot in the episode, hallucinating and nearly getting himself killed

Tbf, it seemed like Abe was getting off on that dude choking him out. He popped back up with an "I just came" smile on his face.

Yeah they the direction they went with Abe was weird. Although it makes sense when considering the comic and the fact I think they are trying to make up for lost time on his arc.

I'm starting to think there might be multiple lead-character deaths in the finale, and

Spoiler:
Abe or Sasha
will get snuffed along with
Spoiler:
Daryl or Glenn.
mmm

I would think that massive deaths are inevitable. I mean it is going to be RICK leading them into battle.
