It's fun to watch him rise to leadership, shun it, embrace it again, revel in it, abuse it, then get viciously knocked from the top spot. If he had stayed put in charge, his character would have become very dull.

Yeah

Bit of a theme with this show. Once a character's arc feels complete, they tend to get killed. Probably since if there's no drama left to milk, they're just taking up space, so may as well milk an emotional death. Carol's going through it; she started as meek, became resilient, became ruthless, is now questioning her ruthlessness. Soon as she finishes that off she's getting whacked. Morgan too, with his pacifist thing--introduced as capable, turns crazy, crazy cured, goes pacifist, questioning it. Happened to Beth too, sorta. Same with Andrea. Happened to... tonight's victim

Spoiler:
s
. Happened to the blonde doctor lady with the arrow through the head. Completed arcs=death sentence. So Rick will always be transitioning.

Jeffery Dean Morgon as Negan is just bad ass.

More like Jeffery Dean Morgan is Bad Ass period.

Good episode. Should have been the last episode of last season rather than the opener for this one, though.

Now I look forward to the next 6 filler episodes.

Next episode will be a filler episode of Morgan wandering around and in the final 10 minutes the kingdom guys will find him and introduce him to the tiger guy.

So far he's everything I'd hoped for. Even without the f-bombs his comic book counterpart throws around, he can still make a damn great impact. 👆

I agree, this totally changes up was a waning series in my opinion. I didn't even bother watching a few seasons cause I was just sick of the montonoey and I really am not the biggest fan of Rick. Actually not a fan at all, so this really brought me back in.

Comedian ftw👆

Great villain, truly one sadistic POS mixed in with practicality. Should make for a good season. Negan already shits all over the dud that was the Governor.

^ 👆

And Negan's character *should* become even better-rounded as the season progresses. His 'rules' can be pretty f*cked, but as long as you abide by them he really IS pretty reasonable.

Governor would beat the life from Negan. Negan really is kind of weak. Beating two defenseless people with barbed wire bats isn't impressive. Let's see how Negan fares in unarmed combat against Rick. We all know the Governor was a moment away from killing Rick until that skank interfered.

Am expecting J.D. Morgan to really flesh out the character in the coming weeks. Rather excited for this season.

I've never been exited for TWD till now honestly. This is a total game changer.

I've enjoyed this show from the start; it's had its ups and downs no doubt, but Negan's looking like the best villain so far and a great villain is what makes a movie or show like this.

Two eps in and Robtard has already confessed his undying love. Fanboy. Governor was the best villain thus far.

Technically isn't he really only the 2nd villain so far?
