I liked the introduction of Ezekiel. I still find Carol absolutely insufferable though.

Carol started out crappy-ish, then became good, but her personal existential crisis now is crappy. I prefer the Carol that laid siege to Terminus like a total boss. We don't need another Morgan-like character, imo.

That's what the show does. Takes them on a wild arc until they truly "find" themselves and their role in the new world.

Then the show kills them.

Any character that goes through that "I dont wan to to kill or be violent anymore" turn into shitty characters.
Like Morgan and Carol. Everyone liked Morgan when he was a crazy killer , same for Carol.

People like one-note characters. Means we don't have to think too hard.

Actually, I just find Carol unnecessarily bitchy sometimes. Always have. Granted, she was somewhat more entertaining when she was more cutthroat (and the psychotic speech she gave whatserface's kid that one time was pretty entertaining, even if it eventually made the kid have a shitfit at the most inappropriate time later), but I was never really a fan to begin with.

Morgan wasn't actually that bad in the last episode. The only time I have issues with Morgan is when his philosophy causes him to make potentially stupid decisions, especially ones that affect people beyond himself (like keeping the Wolf without telling others). That's when he irritates me. Plus, I like the fact that he himself admitted that he thought he had it figured out, but he's really just stumbling along as best he can, like everyone else.

Like the people who make this series? 😉

They people that make the series are not "1 Note" .

The are more around the '3 Note" level.

I like Carol. She is unpredictable. The lady has been through some shiznit.

I don't have a problem with other people liking her. I just don't like her myself.

I pretty much have that problem with every cast member.

Fair enough.

I just can't seem to really get into the zombie genre.

Spoiler:
Loved him just flat out resisting this lemming leading con man straight up despite having all the power over him. Awesome and predictably just as I thought.

Told you so.

Zombies are just background in this series.

I like how, despite holding several groups likely as client states, and having so much to manage and oversee, Negan still finds time to invest himself in this one pissant. Same with Ezekial and Morgan and Carol. All those people he interacts with and has probably developed relationships with, and it's with these two newcomer nobodies that he trusts with his pig trade info. and secret background as a zookeeping actor.

It's almost like the plot demands these bigwigs to inextricably give all the shits about the main cast.

Still though, very good episode. These slower, character-building ones are spot-on. Getting me to empathize with both jailed and jailer against the villain is a good move. Didn't expect it from this show.

Granted Negan has his own community to constantly oversee, but given the power/hold he's got over his subjects in general(ie. "We are Negan"😉, it doesn't seem like a whole lot of micromanagement would be required for The Sanctuary to run efficiently. As for the other communities: Negan's underlings travel to them once a week to collect their 'tribute' -- so it's not like he has to personally supervise that aspect of operations either, unless there is a problem(which there rarely seems to be.) Now I'm sure Negan will personally visit Alexandria the first time or two to help make an impression, but I don't think he's so busy that taking 5-10mins out of his day to f*ck with Daryl would be a huge scheduling conflict. /shrug

The Ezekiel thing is funny. I guess the main characters always have to be important on some level. 👆

Good episode, though -- the emphasis on character-building has been refreshing. This episode also helped start setting the stage for events to come, which is a plus. 👆

That awful music alone would have been enough to make me have homicidal thoughts.

👆

Gotta hand it to Daryl. One dog food sandwich a day + constant music torture + trolling from Dwight and Negan, and he only cracked once. Privately. Tough motherf*cker.

Negan just isn't that badass at all without his army. Called it from the premiere.
