I don't think an episode of any TV show has ever had me face palming quite as much as that last one. Not only was it one of those budget saving ones when nothing much happens but we also had to deal with the miraculous tornado that saves them from a zombie hoarde while it leaves the flimsy wooden barn they're sheltering in completely unscathed despite passing within feet of it.

I don't mind when characters just state into the distance looking at the scenery too much, but I agree that dedicating whole episodes to filler like this is nonsense. I hate filler episodes. If they did that kind of thing for like 10 to 15 minutes an episode then it would be fine.
That's why season 2 was the weakest, because pretty much the whole season was filler.
^ I disagree.
At least in season 2 these slow paced episodes served to move characters foward. Those filler chaps had at least some character development.
Only thing worth mentioning about last episode was Aaron appearance, if it's anything like the comic it'll be good for the group considering how bad they're doing on the road this time around.

The barn was made of adamantium
When you really think about it each season has only had maybe 3 great episodes each with the rest being filler. Last season was the worst for it. The mid season finale and start were good. The episode with the girls was good but everything else was relatively weak. This season the opener was great but not much else has been good since. It gets extremely annoying when you get 3 and sometimes 4 pretty poor episodes in a row.
Agreed. I think I'm only watching the show out of a delight for seeing main characters get offed out of the blue. Beth's death was fantastic for that. Says a lot (or not much) for the characters though when they're bit or shot and the most emotion that can be elicited is expressed with a "Ha, he's/she's dead."
I genuinely don't care about anyone on the show save for Daryl, Carol, and occasionally Rick's beard.
Not having read the comics, I'm uncertain with where they're going.
They can't do another 'All is great in Pleasantville on the surface, but below lurks a terrible evil' like they had with the Governor/Brian and they certainly can't do another 'welcome to Cannibal land'.
So I'm thinking Alexandria is as it seems, a normal/civilized and overall safe place, so the show will go the 'soldier-with-PST' and the difficulties in trying to integrate back into society angle. With Rick (possibly Daryl and Carol too) not being able to cope with normalcy, after being out in the shit for so long
