Chaos War: Chaos King

Spoiler:
Chaos King assaults Zenn-La and in the most intriguing sequences in the entire story of Chaos War by far, Mikaboshi and Thrann (Zenn-La's god of Science) initiate a discussion as they are fighting over whether mikaboshi's actions are right or wrong, and why he does them.

Also revealed is the nature of Mikaboshi's power: he absorbs the souls/life energy of others...converting it into dark energy and incorporating it into his form. Aside from the dark enery aspect, it sounds exactly like the Power Cosmic.

Mikaboshi and Thrann both establish that Mikaboshi is an agent of Entropy...essentially displacing the actual abstract concept Entropy. Also seemingly displaced is Oblivion. And when I say displaced, I mean it in the sence that mikaboshi and Thrann both agree that chaos king embodies/represents these concepts, so for now it appears that we as readers are supposed to forget that Oblivion and Entropy already exist.

In any case, Mikaboshi destroys the pantheon of Zenn-La, absorbs the Impossible Man (!) into himself, and finally goes into hell and abosrbs Satan. After absorbing Satan he decrees he's ready to go to earth, and at that point hellstrom and the others retreat through a portal, which leads us to the very last panel at the end of Chaos War #2.

So by the time Mikaboshi battles the God Squad in Chaos War #3 (in the guise of Zeus), he has already defeated all the gods of Zenn-La, he has absorbed Impossible Man, and he has vanquished the hell dimensions and absorbed "Satan's" power. Blackheart and several others are shown to be absorbed into his power as well.

Best book of the series indeed. We got to see Mikaboshi in all his glory. The art is amazing and captures the essence of the Japanese god. The void creature look has no place for the character.

are all the hell dimension connected to satan? which was kinda portrayed in the story because you see hela satanish and a few other beings helping satan

Wonder why Mephisto wasnt in the Chaos War issue.

Yeah, iirc its not that often you seen Satan as the Lord of hell, its usually Mephisto as he interacts with the likes of Hela.

or maybe it's a different "hell dimension".

however since the story is about Mika destroying hell lords Mephisto should have been present

On the 2nd last page when Mikaboshi is leading his charge toward earth you can see Blackheart. Maybe Mikaboshi got to Mephisto off-panel.

hmm, doesn't Hulk absorb Dark Energies too?
istr something along those lines, certain magics amp him up/feed him...

Mika avoided Meph because Meph would just retcon him out of existence.

Chaos War: God Squad is out

Spoiler:

Chaos War: Ares

http://comics.cosmicbooknews.com/content/exclusive-preview-chaos-war-ares-1

Incredible Hulks#618 preview.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=7159&disp=table

So far the main title is pretty boring. There's no real challenge to Mikaboshi. Alpha Flight, however, was refreshing. The Great Beasts looked like they had a chance to take on Mikaboshi. Whether they could've beaten him doesn't really matter because they could've been. After Satan and hell's pathetic beat down and the skyfathers being complete b!tches; some body was actually turning the tide.

By the way, Oeming's one shot Chaos War: Ares should be a hit. If you haven't read his Ares mini, pick that up. Far and away a better mini than this event. The art surpasses any of these Chaos War books.

How powerful are Susanoo, Tsyukiomi and the Japanese Gods suppose to be? I ask because...

Spoiler:
The god squad easily defeated them

I made a thread about the different Marvel's Pantheons Of Gods. You can check it out here about the Amatsu-Kami(Shinto/Japanese Gods).

http://www.killermovies.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=540336&pagenumber=1

As for your question about Susanoo and Tsukiyomi, these guys should be above the average Amatsu-Kami since their sons of Izanagi(skyfather of the Amatsu-Kami) and Izanami(Gaea/Elder Goddess). That would also go to their brother Kagutsuchi(God of Fire) and their sister Amaterasu(Goddess of the sun).

Spoiler:
The only reason I could think of why the Amatsu-Kami were easily defeated by the God Squad, is because they ended up being enslaved and corrupted by Mikaboshi and that might have weakened them in the process somehow.

I did read your thread about Marvel's Pantheons. The average Amatsu-Kami based on the biography in your thread don't seem to be that strong and were even mentioned to be weaker than Asgardian gods.

Spoiler:
But I still expected Susanoo and Tsukiyomi to be extremely tough fights for the god squad. They might of been weakened since they were corrupted by Mikaboshi, but I don't think it's mentioned that they were weakened in the comic? In contrast in Chaos War we see Zeus, Ares and the other dead gods under Mikaboshi's power get amped not weakened.
