THE SET-UP: As part of his initiation as a student, Rah is being pitted against his fellow learner, Balto. Hajid Thajkon will be pleased with whomever stands victorious...
HOW THIS WORKS: Things have changed a little since Rah last fought in a lightsaber duel! Let's go over the rules...
Each turn, duellists exchange lightsaber blows, trying to beat their opponent's guard and score a points until that final blow is struck to win the duel. One player is made the attacker, though who the attacker is changes each round.
There are three moves you can make, based upon the three physical stats of Strength, Agility, and Dexterity. You add your rating in chosen stat and apply it to your Lightsaber score, which makes for the final score of your attack.
There are two complications- first, some moves are better than others. Strength gets a bonus against Dexterity, Dexterity against Agility, and Agility against Strength. Said bonus is worth two points. Second, your chosen move has an inbuilt extra power of +0 (Weak), +1 (Normal), or +2 (Strong).
At the start of each duel, each combatant chooses six moves, choosing no more than three of each type. The strength of each hand is randomly determined; there are more weak moves than normal, more normal than strong.
Highest score wins each turn. In the event of a draw, attacker gets the point. First to five wins, so long as they are winning by two clear points. If not, duel continues until that gap is made. Winning by more points can have worse consequences for your opponents.
ANALYSIS:
Rah is in top physical condition and quite the fighter, if not the perfect duelist. He is not familiar with Balto's style, however.
Rah- pick your first six moves!
okay trial run to make sure i've got this right
1 using dexterity Rah twists and ducks down to take Baltos legs
2 then using strength he knocks Baltos blade aside
3 still using strength he rains blows down at Baltos head
4 with agility he leaps back out of the reach of Baltos blade when he counters
5 again with agility he immediately leaps back into the fray
6 Spins around to parry Baltos blade to the side and counters with a strike as he comes back round.
Just so you know I'll be away from wednesday till early september so wont be posting 🙂
Not exactly what I meant by moves, though I'm digging the descriptive combat!
Rather, you are picking moves that you will be using each turn.
I'm reading what you've given me as-
1 Dexterity move
2 Strength moves
3 Agility moves
So now I draw to see the power behind each move...
1 Dexterity Normal
1 Strength Normal
1 Strength Weak
1 Agility Strong
1 Agility Weak
1 Agility Weak
So there you are your moves for the duel.
Once you return from your trip, we will begin!
Rah attempts to use some classic swordplay to fend off Balto's opening shots. To get your score, we add your Lightsaber pool, your Dexterity stat, and any bonuses brought by your move.
Rah's pool is 8, his Dexterity is 4, and his move is Normal for +1. His final score is 13.
Balto, on the other hand, was going for brute strength. His final score is a 15. The result is Rah trying to parry Balto's incoming swings but underestimating the strength that Balto puts behind them. Rah finds his lightsabers nearly smashed from his grip! That little runt!

Balto: 1

Rah to attack! Your turn to show what you can do...
Rah comes up with a score of 14 as maneuvers himself around into Balto's blind spot as quickly as he can. Balto opted to continue his enraged hack-and-slash tactic, meaning Rah certainly does catch him out in the middle of a solid swing that hits nothing.
Balto has to fall back so that Rah doesn't turn him into a saber-kebab.

Balto: 1
Rah: 1
-
Balto to attack! He turns to keep Rah in his field of vision. Measuring his steps, he lunges into Rah with series of light jabs, and one comes in rather more fiercely for Rah's heart.
Balto plays with agility as well, hopping over the slash to the backs of his legs and coming down on top of your lightsabers. Your moves are evenly matched and it is a lock! You manage to kick him off of your saber and send him stumbling away, giving you both time to regroup.
Point goes to attacker.

Balto: 1
Rah: 3

Balto to attack! He is leaping toward you now with an overhead strike, placing both blades toward your center.
