Doesn`t mean much. Students often get better than their masters. Anakin would have far surpassed Obiwan or even Sidious. Exar Kun killed his master etc etc.

True, but in the case of the jedi, it typically doesnt happen alot, especially when the Master is very powerful then the student typically doesnt become more powerful

You can flip that around too because most Jedi who grow very powerful studied under a powerful master. Naturally the top masters will pick the students with the most potential.

Anyway percentages does not apply here since we are talking about specific individuals rather than mr x and y.
