Avatar: The Legend of Korra

People trust Kuvira to unite the Earth Kingdom and do all the dirty work in the same way Americans trusted Washington to beat up the Brits. The ones in power are not always the ones who do the fighting. Kuvira on the other hand very clearly wants power for herself but she seems to be hiding it rather well. Besides Raiko may have assured the Earth Prince his assistance if Kuvira did do any dirty business.

Look, I can admit to characters I like doing bad things (maybe):

or the character design is just very similar

Aren't we getting a bit carried away with all the judgement of her actions? For all we know she'll eat a baby in the second episode. Or sacrifice her life saving a pigeon.

Nah. No more so than the other antagonists. Unalaq could have been argued as a sympathetic antagonist in just the first episode. By the second less so and flat out not at all once he wanted to fuse with Satan.

Can you imagine how much depth Amon could've had if he sincerely wanted to equalize all the benders and non-benders because of his father abusing him and his brother as kids? But no, he had to end up being a power greedy immoral prick. They sure know how to ruin their villains...

He might have started out like that. But absolute power corrupts absolutely. Maybe somewhere along the way when the Equalists began to grow in number and influence, he became L. Ron Hubbard, lol.

Eh... I personally would love to think that but.. all we really know for a fact about him is that he's power greedy fcuk with major daddy issues.

I wonder if Korra is holding back so as not to show she's the avatar or if she's lost some of her ability/skill/power from the events of the season finale.

Once again, am I the only one who thinks she is the one in charge of those bandits that stole supplies from airbrnders? And then heroically offered a solution to the problem.

Oh 100% False flags ftw.

Maybe they're out of the loop or deluded. Mako seemed to know about Kuvira having supporters after Wu. Them merely throwing pies was pretty odd though.

I enjoy arguing about ethics. Plus she honestly hasn't done jack shit that was villainous in my eyes, other than strong-arming a state out of its resources which was hardly evil.

I never said her actions were morally good, just not actually villainous. She's hardly ****ing things up when she's objectively making things better.

Hmm, ok maybe.

I doubt Bolin would follow her if she was nothing but a power mad tyrant ruling through fear. I thought she came off as a well-intentioned extremist who's intense and forceful but otherwise quite pleasant. Maybe the Earth Kingdom actually needs those resources for rebuilding and defense.

Her actions are the actions of a pragmatic villain who understands that you gain more with carrots than with switches, but she's always got the switch ready. Has she 'done' anything truly, truly, clearly nefarious? No. But everything she's done and said just about in just this first episode has been much more ominous than what Unalaq was doing in the first episode of season 2 and look how he turned out by the end.

Anybody else find it kind of a dick move to

Spoiler:
Show Korra at the last possible moment for like a brief second and then end the first episode there?

Or maybe, i'm just an impatient f-uck, who wants to see less of the character i don't care for and more of the one i actually do like.

Kuvira is a badass lady though, Kinda like a Lin Bei-Fong hell bent on ..... doing something?

They should've at least made it a two-parter imo.

👆 But maybe it was to keep viewers wanting more? regardless i can't wait for the next episode.

I hope next week's episode explains alot of what went down in the three year's especially for Bolin.

Am I the only one who wanted to see Korra struggle to rehabilitate herself?

You aren't alone man, i wanted to see more of her tbh

glad Meelo grew into that big ass head of his.

btw, Phuck Nickelodeon. They took the ONE quality show they have off the air and relegate it to an online series.

😬

I hope Bryke take their talents to CN.

I'm hoping they did it to soften the blow the moral guardians are going to hit them with when Korra and Asami kiss.

I get my hopes up for no reason only for them to be disappointed.

Ignore the circles and instead look behind her head:

Lol, even Kuvira skips the Great Divide.
