Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Great first episode. But wtf happened

Spoiler:
to Korra?

Well I suppose after Zaheer's Robespierre it is only naturally for Kuvira to be Napoleon lol.

The best part is the new villain because she is pretty much the opposite of Zaheer in every way and I like character designs like that. Zelda also gives a pretty good performance and Kuvira comes across as a person who wants to make a huge mark on the world out of sheer desire for glory. And she is NOT a Red Lotus member, which means her motivation is completely her own.

Am I the only one who got Azula vibe from her? The way she lectured those bandits and instantly "convinced" them to join and the way she threatened that old guy.

I got my own sources. 😛

It is up on Nick already. But it's on other stuff too.

And poor Korra, the events of the finale clearly broke something in her.

Also Bolin finally finds a girl good for him, and he's too...Bolin to realize how f*cked up Kuvira is making things.

Still think those gliders suits look dumb 😐

Well Kuvera is shaping up nicely, now we just have to wait and see how far she gets before the finale comes along and makes her look really lame 😐. Though considering I thought that's the way it was going before the premiere, I think the season is on the right track...for now.

How is Kuvira f*cking things up? I know she's probably the villain but she's done nothing sinister so far, other than protect a town from almost certain annihilation, reunite the Earth Kingdom and beat up bandits.

Kuvira would certainly be a better leader than Kuzco Jr.

Figured someone would but I disagree. Kuvira is not as cruel as Azula and she manipulates through means other than fear. She gives the hungry food which frankly I could never see Azula doing in a million years. She also got hitched, which is again something not that Azula like.

...and threatening to decapitate 20 thieves unless they serve her..

Once again, am I the only one who thinks she is the one in charge of those bandits that stole supplies from airbrnders? And then heroically offered a solution to the problem.

I'm not saying they're exactly alike. Just that both seem vicious, manipulative and power greedy. She does lack Azula's killer instinct and overal batsh!tcrazyness though. So far.

Kuvira is basically forcefully re-uniting the Earth Kingdom under her banner. Rather through coercion or them not having a choice, it's clear many of the kingdoms aren't joining her willingly, rather out of necessity to survive. She's basically Genghis Khan. She's doing good, but she's using bad methods and is controlling everything.

And I have a feeling she'll go for Ba Sing Se once she's got enough territory and power.

I thought only their hands were bound to the tracks. So maybe they'd survive (no). 😛

Plus they were thieves who attacked an armored convoy. And it's ambiguous if she'd have gone through with it.

You can tell she fully intended to go through with it. Just like she fully intended to leave that town to the Bandits if they didn't pledge fealty to her. She even made the Mayor proclaim his loyalty in front of everyone to make it official that she was the big boss now.

She's a mafioso in her methods dude.

And her methods saved everyone in that town, dude. Mayor guy was being a tard and would have gotten them all killed. estahuh

I dunno if she'd have left the town. She might prefer forceful annexation to just letting it get wiped out. But her hands were a bit tied since the mayor told her to **** off despite her being his only real option. But getting him to publicly swear fealty was just the smart move, dude would be a problem.

Man, it feels good to be defending the morality of the villain again.

Why are you unable to admit characters you like are morally bad or even questionable?

Her methods getting results doesn't make them morally good methods. Again, I point to Genghis Khan.

And she was fully ready to leave until Kai got her to stay at the border for a day. 24 Hours was all she gave them to make the decision to accept her ruling over them and getting the benefit of her army, or staying on their own.

The Mayor didn't want her in control for a reason, because she'd take their resources. And it's clear from her militant viewpoint and how she does things that she rules through power not peace or progress.

I don't get why Tenzin and the President aren't thinking that she's a threat. She's conquering on her own for her own, it's not like she's doing this for them but they're like "the EK is almost united" or some shit like that.

Maybe they're out of the loop or deluded. Mako seemed to know about Kuvira having supporters after Wu. Them merely throwing pies was pretty odd though.

I enjoy arguing about ethics. Plus she honestly hasn't done jack shit that was villainous in my eyes, other than strong-arming a state out of its resources which was hardly evil.

I never said her actions were morally good, just not actually villainous. She's hardly ****ing things up when she's objectively making things better.

Hmm, ok maybe.

I doubt Bolin would follow her if she was nothing but a power mad tyrant ruling through fear. I thought she came off as a well-intentioned extremist who's intense and forceful but otherwise quite pleasant. Maybe the Earth Kingdom actually needs those resources for rebuilding and defense.

Bolin is mentally innocent enough that I doubt he realizes the subtle way she's going about things. Sheso not outright evil yet but her methods are far from good and Mako would let Bolin know that if they were together. It's clear he's the brains of the brothers.
